Revisit -
Double Wow! This place is fantastic, the food is outstanding, and the service is excellent. This time we ordered the Cesar salad which is huge enough for 2. Not overly covered in dressing and lettuce was crisp, but very good. We had Pollo alla Picatta and the Bronx Pollo Parmigiana both were fantastic!
If you want to impress someone, this is the place!
Original visit-
Wow! We ordered the Pollo Al Marsala which was wonderful. The chicken was pan fried with the delicious gravey. We shared the plate because it was enough for 2 people. The bread that is given prior to the meal was fresh and delicious. We ended with chocolate cake, again great. The service was outstanding. The Owner was on the floor thanking each table and checking on the meals. It was truely a good feeling. A diffenate return. $$$
On a Sunday at 12:45 pm, there was no wait for a table of four, and the noise level was moderate, just bordering on loud. Service was excellent, and the owner came by a few times. Generous portions of food and hot fresh bread with a tasty oil accompaniment. I'm a bread gal, so that was my favorite--no apparent limit. π We had the calamari with a slightly spicy marinara sauce and the house aioli for dipping. We shared two side salads. I added some of the ailoi to mine for a richer taste. We ordered the sole on risotto, orechiette with sausage and vegetables, chicken Parmigiano, and the pork chop. Everything was tasty. The chicken Parmigiano came with a thin sauce, but the server delivers it with a hot skillet of cheesy Alfredo sauce they pour on top until you say stop. Yummy. The pork chop came with zucchini and carrots cooked just right; the chop was breaded and topped with pecans and a fig jam--it was very tasty but the chop overdone and tough, so disappointing when everything else was so good. We had the cannoli, blueberry cheesecake, and biscotti cheesecakes. These were all enjoyable. My companions had Chianti and Moscato, which they liked. Despite the chops, we'll definitely return another day.
I almost donβt want to post a review because Iβd like to keep this restaurant to myself!
This is a hidden gem in the medical center area. You feel welcome from the minute you step into the restaurant, and the food is absolutely amazing. Make sure you try their version of a caprese salad. Itβs light, refreshing and delicious. The bartender recommended it and he was on point. Mihaela, our server, couldnβt have been nicer. If you want a warm, welcoming atmosphere with excellent service and delicious food, try this restaurant. I donβt have any pictures because I was too busy enjoying my food!
The was our first time and we were blown away! We ordered the Caesar salad, calamari fritters and veal parmigiana. Everything was fantastic! Can't wait to come back with our kids. Oh, and Joe's PlayList was BOMB!
Finally got to go for their dinner. There is always a long wait last time was 2 hours but it was the holidays.
Today was right at 45 minutes. Like Kevin always says if there isn't a wait on Saturday night probably not going to make it in the restaurant business.
Food was delicious definitely worth the wait.
We shared the Insalata Primavera and Pollo Bronx Parmigiana plus bread with dipping oil. Plus a couple of glasses of red wine π·
It's the best parmigiana I've ever had. It is a golden-crusted chicken breast topped with vodka sauce, melted mozzarella, and a touch of sweet heat from cherry peppers, served over rigatoni Alfredo and Broccolini.
They pour hot mozzarella on it right at your table. OMG!!
Highly recommend if you're in the area.
Staff was wonderful and very attentive with everything. Our bartender was on point too. Always checking in on us. We sat at the bar to wait but did eat the salad including bread. Then got a table for our main entree.
Water and bread continued to be taken care of.
Even the owner checked in on us twice once at the bar then seated at table. And thanked us again on way out of restaurant.
Food portions were a lot. We shared and still have left overs. I'm pretty full.
Best Italian I've had in a very long time.
I'm not sure if he's going to expand there or not. But I feel like they may outgrow that space.
But overall one of the top restaurants in my book.
Definitely will be back. Each time will have to try a new entree but that parmigiana rocked. π
Marked it down only because the caprese salad was not a true Caprese salad. Had been looking for it to having that and it was basically like having a dessert. And I did not think that all the sweet fruit that was in there went well with the dressing. Otherwise, everything was fantastic.
First timers. Came for our 5th anniversary. The atmosphere is very warm, cozy and inviting. The service was incredible and the food nearly unbelievable and generous - highly recommend the caprese salad and Bronx parmagiana, both are delicious and can feed 2 people comfortably. Ask for Alizay, she was fantastic and had excellent recommendations pertaining to both the food and wine menu.
We will be coming back very soon!
This was incredible. The service the food the restaurant! So glad we came this is our new go to Italian restaurant. Calamari was fresh , salads were cold and creamy, the entrees were tasty and delicious and tiramisu was terrific!
Thank you for such a great experience all the way around!
This is a nice little place located in a small strip mall. The decor is pleasant and ,honestly I came for the chicken I had seen on a reel. I had a salad and the parmesean chicken with cheese, and it did not disappoint. Other tables had apparently also seen the video as this was served continuously while I was there. Very tasty meal.
I came here at opening for lunch. I've probably eaten six or seven Italian restaurants since I moved to San Antonio a couple of years ago. This is the only one I've ever given 5 stars. Beautiful artwork and interior design, with soft lighting and old school Italian music... This place is a whole vibe! Good for lunch, probably even better for date night. The service is impeccable. I know I was here early, but it seems like the whole restaurant works as a team to serve everyone. I'm sure I had at least five different people come to my table, each person so pleasant and helpful. And the food did not disappoint! I got a garden salad, And it was the best I've seen in a while. There was spinach and field greens and olives and carrots, complimented by a simple dressing. For the main course I ordered the Pollo e Monte. Chicken was cooked perfection, so tender and juicy. Everything else on the plate with it was an explosion of flavor in generous portions. Just delectable! I would definitely come back here and try a few more menu items.
We heard about this restaurant on TicToc so wanted to try it. They do not do reservations but you can get on a waitlist via their website or through the Yelp app. We got on the list upon arrival. The wait time was just over an hour on a Friday night but worth it! You must wait outside standing on the sidewalk or in your car. There are no seats for waiting inside nor is there room. I had the Crispy Chicken Picatta. I have never had it crispy but it had so much flavor. I would order this again. Like everytime I order chicken picatta someplace, I never get enough pastaπ My tablemate ordered the Ravioli Mare e Monte. She seemed to like it as there were no leftovers. Next time she wants to order the dish she saw in the TicToc video. Sorry I don't know the name of it. We had a side caesar salad that was really fresh and tasty and enough for two people. We had wine with our meals. They bring fresh bread to the table with some olive oil mix for dipping. That bread was delicious! I ate too much of it. We skipped dessert. The atmosphere was nice and has a bar (about 6-7 seats). The one TV at the bar has a food/travel channel on that was nice. The owner greeted everyone waiting outside for a table and continued to greet all the tables inside as well. He could maybe use a bigger space but really it works well just like it is. The service is good and the price is not too much. The food is exceptional.
We came here on a whim and were not disappointed. Ordered the spicy calamari, Caesar salad and the sole risotto. The sole really stood out, and I would highly recommend it. The bread served to the table was also very good. Their wine list is decent, but is aimed at bottle purchases (vs. buying a glass). The service was very good, best weβve had in San Antonio.
Now I Understand Why They Have a 4.9 Rating!
The salad alone was so fresh and flavorful that I could have easily made it my main course. The fish and risotto were perfectly prepared, with rich flavors that simply melted in your mouth, and my husbandβs lamb chops were cooked to absolute perfection.
The service was exceptional β warm, attentive, and genuinely professional. Every staff member greeted us with kind smiles, checked in often, and even held the door as we left. It was an experience that made us feel truly valued.
We will 100% be returning β an outstanding dining experience from start to finish!
Absolutely AMAZING!! Everything about my experience was incredible. Phenomenal service, Edwin was attentive and extremely thoughtful. The owner, Prince, greeted us and truly made us feel at home. Everyone on the staff made us feel so comfortable and our happiness was their main priority.
The food, just as amazing. We shared a Caesar salad, and I had the Pollo Bronx Parmigiana and my partner had the ravioli! The mascato wine was sweet and delicious. I was 1000% satisfied! I will be back!
Edit: I tried the Pollo Bronx Parmigana. It was delicious! I'm disappointed that a salad isn't included in a $30 meal.I will def try more menu items in the future.
Original: I was super excited to try this place. I ordered a Caesar salad and lasagna. The salad dressing was delicious and the portion was generous. The lasagna, unfortunately was cold. It reminded me of a meal that was warmed up in the microwave and wasn't heated thoroughly. I only ate half. I would like to try this place again with all the positive reviews but the first impression was not positive.
First time here. Great little date night spot. Amazing Caesar salad, must try the breaded chicken! Will definitely be adding this to date night spots.
Wonderful staff. Bad, over priced Italian food. Our best dish was the appetizer (Carciofi al Tartufo). The salad dressing on the insalata primavera is just oil. The lasagna is just cheese/sauce/pasta. The waiter encouraged my wife to add meat balls to it only to have the single meat ball to be raw in the middle. The chicken piccata tasted like store bought breaded chicken bathed in oil. No one was ecstatic about their meal. We wonβt be coming back.
Delicious calamari and chicken piccata lunch for two today with great Caesarβs salad! Attentive staff welcome every visitor- clean, comfortable and a must return again !
We went early on a Saturday night and got right in. However, the small restaurant filled up very quickly, so be prepared to wait if you get there at 6pm or later. We were looking forward to trying out this highly rated restaurant.
Pros: most of our food was really tasty, except for the $25.00 Lobster Ravioli -- it was very fishy, and there was very little lobster meat in it. The red sauce on it was yummy, though. My husband really enjoyed his Spicy Rigatoni and the added meatball, but $4.00 for one small meatball is ridiculous. We both enjoyed the Caprese salad.
Cons: the service was not excellent. Our waitress took plates the minute we took the last bite and even hovered once waiting for me to finish my salad. That is a huge pet peeve of mine. Also the food was delivered by kitchen staff, but then it took several minutes for our waitress to come back to the table to offer pepper or parmesan. We were several bites in to both the salad and main dishes before she offered these garnishes. They should be offered immediately. Also she was slow to refill our iced tea, and mistakenly gave us sweet tea once, instead of unsweet. We drank it anyway, because we didn't see her very often. She was nice, but these little things do add up over the course of a meal.
Last gripe -- It's very irritating when a restaurant adds a fee to use a credit card, as this one does. No one is bringing that much cash to pay for meal, so you're forced to pay the fee. Just build that cost into the price of the food, and let people decide whether it's worth it or not. It seems like such a cheap and disingenuous thing to do to your customers.
So to sum up, all in all it was not a bad meal, but we probably won't make a special trip to eat there again.
The food and service was exceptional! I had the Caprese Salad and the Sole Oregenata. Fabulous!!!
First time here! Food was really good. My favorite food item that dinner was the caprese salad. Yumm! Wish there pizza options on the menu, but definitely not a deal breaker. Service was excellent! Staff and owner were very attentive. They even boxed our leftovers for and in front off us, thatβs a rare service offered. Thank you!
First time here. WOW! We wanted Italian to celebrate my husband's accomplishment, and decided to try something new. We are so glad we did! From the moment you walk in, you are family - at the home of your financially successful relatives. It has a great ambience without being pretentious. We were greeted warnly by Prince, the owner, with the words "welcome home." The service here is exceptional!
And the experience just got better from there. From the wine list, to the appetizers, to the salads to the main course meal, everything was just extraordinary. Try the Adriatic Shrimp with scallops! You won't be sorry!
We have our favorite, normal go-to's for Italian, where you always know what you're gonna get. This is next level food- with the added bonus of exceptional, friendly service.
We had our date night at Mar e Monte and it truly exceeded our expectations! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the owner, who made everyone feel like family with his heartfelt, βWelcome home.β The entire staff was just as friendly and attentive, creating such a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. We started with a Caesar salad, which was fresh, crisp, and full of flavor. For our entrees, we enjoyed the Sole and the Pollo Bronx. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection, and the portions were generous without being overwhelming. To top it all off, we shared a tiramisu and blueberry cheesecake for dessert. While both were wonderful, the cheesecake was our favorite. We will definitely be back and are already telling our friends and family about this gem. Mar e Monte is a must-visit!
My coworkers and I came here for lunch. We will definitely be back!!!
I started with the ceasar salad. The perfect amount of dressing was tossed with the romaine leaves. The permesan cheese and croutons tasted good.
For my entree, I ordered the Spicy Rigatoni with chicken. The chicken was flavored well. The rigatoni was perfectly cooked. The spicy sauce had a good kick to it.
The overall experience was great. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.
Sooo delicious!! Our group came here on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch after a rough morning. Mare e Monte did not disappoint! I had no expectation for gluten free options but yes there are some options. The service was excellent and the staff very accommodating. Everyone really enjoyed their food. All our dishes were savory yet fresh and bright. A very lovely dining experience that made our day.
Picture 1- Pollo di Piccata (made gluten sensitive)
Picture 2- Gluten sensitive bread
Picture 3- Fettuccine di Parma with chicken
Picture 4- side of zucchini & carrots
Not pictured were the amazing salads we had, ate them too fast!
I enjoyed everything about my visit to Mare E Monte. The service is excellent, with multiple people coming by to check on our table. The food was delicious. I had a salad and an appetizer as my enter. The appetizer was just enough with the salad and bread.
Another fantastic experience! Jace was fantastic and was super attentive without being overbearing. Good with suggestions. Food is fabulous. Started with a Caprese salad that was different than most but so incredibly flavorful. Buffalo mozzarella was perfect saltiness. Sole is something you need to try. Ravioli Mare e Monte very good. You must come and try if you are looking for down home hospitality and great food.
Stumbled upon this spot on vacation in San Antonio. We were ready for something other than steak or Mexican and the reviews don't lie. This place is phenomenal from the owners greeting to every phenomenal dish. We had the Shrimp antipasta perfect amount of spice, ceasar salad and caprese both fresh and delicious. I had the pasta el Norte adding Shrimp, but honestly the portion is so generous the addition really wasn't necessary. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the stuffed peppers. The blueberry cheesecake was light and delicious. An amazing gem with wonderful food and a welcoming atmosphere.
Honest amazing service! The owner is a great guy and the server was awesome. The caprese salad is probably the best salad I have ever had. I'll be coming back for sure.
My aunt loved her crab cakes and salad appetizer. It was the right amount of food for her.
The service was superb. The owner/chef came out to greet us and shook our hands. The atmosphere was lovely. This is my second time there. My friends who have come there with me also liked the place so much that they recommended it to their families.
Their great customer service has yielded them a lot of repeat business : )
This was our first time here and the Fettucini Alfredo with Chicken was amazing π€© Unfortunately, there was no Lasagna but the Owner & Chef Loriq made up for it with his very personable and polite attention. The Cesar Salad to split was large and very tasty π I would recommend you come to this establishment as the food & customer service alone is rare. π€
Stumbled by this place on Sunday. We had no reservations but they were able to accommodate us. We shared a Caesar Salad that even split in 2 we could not finish. Hubby had the Veal Parmesan and thought it was wonderful. I had the Sole Oreganato and it was stupendous! The owner Prince was very cordial. Our server Fatima was very attentive and sweet.
The restaurant is wonderful! The food was really good - we shared a Caesar Salad and a pasta. The portions are great for the price. Service is always fast and on point, with smiles. Zerina took care of us and we really enjoyed the meal!
Delicious meal! We had the caprese salad to start and I got the seafood risotto and it was absolutely amazing. My partner got the filet of sole and it was just incredible! Dishes were large portions but not too heavy. Great atmosphere and excellent service, with reasonable prices. I was pleasantly surprised by how good this place was!!
Amazing! Kids and parents loved it- from the bread, to the salad, to the entree, wine and dessert. This place truly knows hospitality. Owner has total dedication to making sure everyone has an amazing experience. We will be back !!!
We loved this restaurant so much that we came back the very next day! The salmon was some of the best Iβve ever had β perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The caprese salad was just as incredible! We also tried several appetizers and other dishes, and everyone at our table was beyond impressed with everything we ordered.
What truly made this place unforgettable was the customer service. Both nights, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of. Itβs genuinely some of the best service Iβve ever experienced β friendly, attentive, and so professional.
This restaurant is a true gem. I canβt recommend it highly enough and am already looking forward to our next visit!
Food was yummy, huge servings. Recommend the caprese salad. Enjoyed the bread starter, but wish the olive oil came out with more herbs/pepper. Staff were delightful though we had to remind our server about anything weβd asked for (pepper, a new napkin, glass of wine.) Popular lunch spot for ladies 50+ when we were there. Overall felt overpriced for lunch (total for a salad, two mains, and two glasses of wine = $100) considering half the food came out cold and service was okay but not great.
First time here and it did not disappoint. Appetizer, salads, entrees, and deserts were amazing! Our waiter was on top of his service and the owner was very nice! Will be back since this is our new favorite Italian spot!
My family visited Mare E Monte on our spring break trip to San Antonio and had a fantastic experience! A highlight meal from the salad to asparagus to pasta - my girls even rave about the lemonade. The staff and owner were incredibly friendly. My family wanted Italian and we are so happy we made the trip from downtown and didn't settle for the places near the riverwalk. If we didn't live across the country we would be regulars.
I dined at Mare Monte March 20. It was the second time visiting this restaurant.
The food: a Caprese salad, big enough to share, was delightful. It comes with the freshest burrata cheese and a dollop of fig jam.
My daughter had the sole and I had the lamb chops. Both were heartily enjoyed.
Another aspect to consider when dining here is the service. I enjoyed speaking with the owner and appreciate how he makes it a point to greet and visit with everyone. He instantly makes you feel welcome. Our server, Joseph, was wonderful. My daughter preferred her food cooked a tad longer. Without hesitation, Joseph whisked the food away with a promise of a better cooked, fresh item. It did not disappoint.
Unfortunately, I didnβt leave room for dessert.
Canβt wait to come back!
Fall 2024
Visited Mare Monte for lunch with my daughter.
It was delicious.
She had the sole.
I had the salmon.
We shared a Caesar salad.
Unfortunately, I was too full to sample dessert.
Next timeβ¦.
The service was excellent.
The restaurant was intimate.
The menu had many enticing options and which means I will have to come back to check them out.
And major scoreβ¦it is a nice restaurant in close proximity to my neighborhood .
Will definitely be coming back!
Found this restaurant by accident, and weβre so glad we did. Our server Joshua was very helpful in explaining the menu and recommendations. We ordered calamari, Caesar salad, Bronx parmigiana, lasagna, and Sole w/risotto. All the food was delicious. I highly recommend this spot.
We came to Mare e Monte at 11:15 on the Saturday after Valentine's Day. Their dining area is split between more intimate 2 person tables and larger tables for bigger parties near the bar. We were seated immediately.
They started us with some wood fired bread and oil that was perfectly cooked and warm. The owner came out to welcome us and let us know that we should treat it like we're family and ask for anything we want.
We started with the Caesar salad and calamari which were both great. They were out of lasagna, but we ended up getting the lobster ravioli and pasta al nero with scallops. Both were outstanding.
For dessert we tried the house made blueberry cheesecake and cannolis. Wow they were great.
Service was extremely attentive. Food was perfect. Atmosphere was good. Highly recommend.
More folks were arriving as we were leaving and parking was filling up. I think we picked a good time.
Went here for Valentineβs Day Lunch. Food and staff were great. Owner walks around introducing himself and offering any services. I had not finished my salad and my main entree was still on the table so the owner offered to give me another meal so I would not eat cold food. I respectfully declined but appreciated the gesture. On our way out the owner made sure to come to the door to walk us out. Now thatβs customer service! Thank you
Very nice cozy atmosphere with great service. The side salad and bread was the best thing we had. The main course was very disappointing. The food was cold and did not taste fresh. I had to add salt to my dish. I took my mom out for an early Valentines dinner and left embarrassed. By the time they remade her plate we lost our appetite. Everything tasted like frozen food that was microwaved. Will not come back here again. They didnβt even offer to comp her plate for the inconvenience or didnβt offer a free dessert. I do not recommend this place for what they charge.
Visiting family from out of state and decided to buy Italian for dinner. We ordered several items to go on a Tuesday night.
When I got back to the house, I realized they had left out one of the items. I called to ask they credit my card, but was so impressed with their generous response! The owner not only apologized but insisted on bringing the order to the house. He brought the lasagne and 4 free orders of cherry cheesecake.
The lasagne, seafood risotto, Caesar and caprese salads were excellent and the tiramisu and cheesecake were delicious. Mare Monte certainly gets our vote for an amazing place to eat Italian cuisine. Thank you Mare Monte! My 97 yo mom and 93 yo aunt loved the food and your dedication to excellence.
I saw this place had a clean 5 star review with 1300 reviews. That's mind blowing by itself, and it came recommended, so I had to try it. I had the seafood risotto, caesar salad, and tiramisu, and the italian beer (the only beer they have, so the owner says, because he wants more people to taste it and see how great it is - he's not wrong!)
The staff were attentive, lovely, and flawless. The owner himself was kind and welcoming and made me, a total stranger, feel like I was invited to his personal kitchen for a home cooked meal.
And the food was fantastic.
This place earns their 5 stars. It is no joke.
A group of us went here for the first time for a post Christmas/New Year's get together. They don't take reservations but we were seated quickly which was great for a Friday night at 6pm. Service was very good but things were a little slow coming out of the kitchen. We ordered the calamari which was excellent, lightly breaded, crisp and tender. Also ordered the artichoke, also very good but that was the one that took quite a while to get to the table. However, the restaurant filled up quickly and was full, so sometimes you need to be patient. I had the seafood risotto, which was delicious, and others had chicken picatta, eggplant parmesan, chicken alfredo, and Caesar's Salad with Shrimp. Everyone enjoyed their selection. One of the highlights of the evening was the Owner. He circled the restaurant visiting with every table and ensuring that everything was okay and that no one needed anything. He was so very personable and upbeat. I'm Italian and very picky when it comes to Italian restaurants so it surprised me when I saw him because I could tell he was not Italian. We chatted with him outside when we were leaving and found that he is Albanian, as are the chefs. Well, close enough, I guess. I was duly impressed with the service, the ambiance, the food, and affordability. I look forward to returning.
Still the Best Italian restaurant in San Antonio I have found. This time I had the pork chop with figs. Incredible! My wife loved the lasagna and our guests raved about their ceasar salad. The waitstaff was warm and attentive and the owner is always welcoming and gracious.
Visited on Christmas night. Our server Jace was very attentive and kind. I ordered the lasagna and it was delicious. My daughter had the gnocchi with burrata on top and she really enjoyed it. The Caesar salad was very large and we shared that. Overall it was a great first experience and we will be back!
New favorite restaurant! We lived in Naples, Italy, for 3 years so we're always looking for authentic Italian cuisine in San Antonio. Had dinner there tonight with my wife and daughter. Their wine selection by the glass was good, and we had the Chianti, which was excellent. The calamari appetizer is the best calamari I've had in years, and our salad with burrata cheese was excellent, too. We had the chicken parm and the sole; both were fantastic. Bourbon apple pecan pie for dessert, and it was outstanding. Our waiter, Kyron, was very attentive and knowledgeable, and the owner, Prince, is a great guy, and very pro-American. We will be back!!!
This was an interesting yet very satisfying experience. We entered through the rear of the restaurant, a bit different but it allowed us to see more of the space. Very nice and cozy. Some holiday decor but not much. It wasnβt loud or library silent . We were immediately seated by the owner, who greeted us with welcome home. He sat us in the front. It was nice. Several tables around with other couples/groups engaged in conversation. The staff was dressed neatly and looked like they enjoyed their jobs. Our waiter was very nice and pretty quick. We enjoyed some complementary bread and butter. Bread was deliciously fresh and had good flavor. We were given just enough to hold us through ordering, which was great because we were totally looking forward to our entree. We split a CΓ©sar salad and it was good. It took us a while to decide what to order, the menu had many attractive options. I selected the Ravioli Mare e Monte, because I LOVE ravioli. The sauce was so creamy and tasty. I would definitely order this again. My hunny ordered the highly recommended Bronx Pollo Parmigiana. Wasnβt really his thing. He said the flavors were hit or miss and it just didnβt look appealing. He doesnβt typically have a fried meat with his pasta. The owner noticed almost immediately this was not the dish for my love. So he offered to prepare something else. He selected the Lasagne al Forno. BEST DECISION! So good. The tomatoes in the meat sauce were so flavorful. There was a sweetness that said IM FRESH and was chopped by hand. Lol. I will definitely order that the next time! We donβt usually take home leftovers but that came home. It was so filling. It was even good when we reheated it. Our food came out a little fast but management noticed and quickly took action. We were able to sit and enjoy our food and the environment, no need to rush. We left the establishment feeling like it was money well spent. We will absolutely return.
We went for an early dinner. The food was perfect. My husband had Chicken Parmesan, his friend had the steak and I had Veal Piccata. The Caprese Salad was excellent and large enough for my
Husband and I to share. The bread was the best! We had to pass on dessert because we were so full. Our server ( I think his name was Andres) was extremely attentive. We will definitely be going back..
Everything from the bread and olive oil, Caesare salad, lasagne and tiramisu was excellent. If you want to enjoy the true taste of Italy then Mare e Monte should be your italian destination.
Reasonable pricing and quality food!! My favorite was the veal picatta and the Caesar salad! We also had the chicken Parmesan and eggplant Parm! Great Service and very nice atmosphere!
The best Italian in SA! Food was wonderful!! We ordered the veal piccata, chicken parmesan, a side of eggplant parmigiana and a caesar salad. The owner came in to greet us. We felt like we had homemade food. Ambiance is very nice. White tablecloths and nice napkins. They offered us complementary wine. My favorite was the Caesar salad and the chicken Parmesan. Wonderful music and great service.
Highly reccomend!!!
This was our first time at Mare e Monte and it did not disappoint. The service was phenomenal. Jesse, our server went above and beyond to make sure that we were very well taken care of from offering to make every order to our liking. We started off with Calamari arriabiatta, then a ceasar salad and lasagna, which was my favorite.
Prince, the owner, also greeted every guest with a warm welcome and was very friendly. In a time where good service is hard to find, this restaurant really knows how to make you feel special.
This was our first visit and won't be the last. We walked in and the atmosphere was just amazing. We were greeted with smiles and they were so welcoming and so pleasant. Our waiter went out of his way to make sure that we were taken care of promptly and brought us fresh bread and dipping oil. The food was amazing and freshly prepared. The chef even came by our table to make sure everything was to our liking. Just a wonderful relaxing meal!. Would definitely go back. The Ceasars salad was very good. Dessert was tiramsu again just wonderful.
Everything was amazing! The staff was very courteous and always checking in on us to see if everything was good. The fettuccine was great, it was very light (it did not make me feel bloated like some do!). The salad was super fresh and it tasted so good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a light, fresh lunch. I do plan on coming by again!
All the appetizers, salad, and entrees were great at my table and I sampled them all. Chicken and fish entrees were delicious
Had been dying to try this place with all the hype and WOW. Iβm hooked!!! My brother in law and I took parents from out of town and it was all exceptional. Service is a 10/10. The owner is so involved with his guests. Caprese Salad is a MUST have and calamari was incredible. House made desserts (Tiramisu) was to die for. Awesome place!
I recently dined at Mare e Monte Italian Restaurant and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The squid ink pasta was perfectly cooked and bursting with rich, savory flavors. The chicken piccata was equally delightful, with tender chicken and a zesty, tangy sauce. The fresh salad complemented the meal beautifully, and the complimentary wine of our choice was a lovely touch that made our evening even more special. The bread was warm and delicious, perfect for sopping up every last bit of sauce. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, and the service was lovelyβattentive and friendly without being intrusive. Mare e Monte has truly captured the essence of Italian cuisine, and I can't wait to return!
Had an incredible experience with the most hospitable staff. The owners are present and take much pride in their service and food. I started off with the Caesar salad, it was refreshingly crisp with a homemade dressing that was on the lighter side for a Caesar, which is my preference.
My wife and I had the Pasta Nero (black pasta) and also the Fettuccini Alfredo with Shrimp. Both were incredibly well made, they pasta is made fresh in house and you can taste the difference.
They also welcome children, our 3 children accompanied us and they were extremely friendly to them, ages 7, 10 and 12. They enjoyed a kids steak cooked medium with fries, and a kids spaghetti. Both my sons at their entire meals. My daughter ate a meatball appetizer as her meal, and it was phenomenal. Even the kids meals were cooked by the chef, no microwaved items.
We ended with the Chocolate Caramel Cake with sea salt. It was light and fluffy, not overly rich, and well balanced.
I would rate this a top 10 Italian dining experience based on food and service. We definitely will be back. I highly encourage you to try it out.
Outstanding service, modern decor, nice music, excellent food. Love the different twists on the caprese saladβ¦ burrata and greensβ¦.grilled chicken inthe piccattaβ¦ and the pasta al neroβ¦ I wiped the bowl clean with the last of the bread. Ohβ¦ and the salted caramel chocolate cakeβ¦. Yee haw!!! Well be back Prince!!!
The staff and owner, Prince, are all so welcoming and friendly. We shared Calamari and a salad, our main courses: the lasagna, the pollo dish, and the mushroom ravioli. Everything was cooked to perfection. We had the dessert of the day which was their version of a banana pudding, it was fantastic, not too sweet and full of flavor.
I will never go anywhere else for italian food. The place is decorated beautiful and you really feel like you can connect with your partner at dinner. The owners were right there checking that everything is to our liking which was a nice surprise. I had a insalata caprese to start off, omg best salad EVER. BURRATA was perfection with the fig jam. My fiancee had the Caesar and it was done to perfection. Neither salad was not drowned in salad dressing like most places. For my entree I had Pasta al Nero which is had black pasta from scratch. LOVED IT! My fiancee had traditional lasagna and he said he has never had anything like it except from his mom. The have an in house pastry chef so I tried the white chocolate strawberry tiramsui and it was out of this world. Will def be going back and recommend it over any other place here in san antonio saying their fresh Italian food.
Decided to eat here after looking at the great reviews. They did not do it justice! Met at the door by our waiter. The owner stopped by our table several times. Food was amazing! Had Calamari Arribiata as appetizer then ceasar salad and entrees of Lasagna and Pasta al Nero. Both were excellent! Will definitely be back. Love the atmosphere and decor especially the moon which the owner said they did all themselves. Have only been open less than 2 months but will do well!
From the fried Calamari with spicy aioli sauce to the meatball Lasagna. Everything was terrific! Even the Caesar Salad was rich and crisp! Highly recommend this place!
This restaurant has been open for about 7 weeks and Iβm absolutely taken aback but how professional and attentive the staff is, how comfortable yet chic the restaurant ambiance is, and how refined the menu items are. You can tell someone has thoughtfully approached all angles of what it takes to open a restaurant that attracts patrons again and again.
High lights: the jam that comes with the burrata salad, Sole Oregenata (a must for anyone wanting fish / a very comforting profile)
The food is so fresh, so light !
After the first step into this little hidden gem, I knew it would be good. The manager (maybe one of the owners) was extremely polite and was genuine in his welcoming us into his establishment. The ceasar salad was delicious. Both my wife and I each had a chicken dish and they were both splendid. Flavor was perfect. Not too rich to overpower the dish. We will be back!
This is our new favorite restaurant! Service was wonderful, great ambiance, and most importantly the food was amazing! Fig jam with the caprese salad was so good I would take a pint home if I could!
We will be back with friends and family for sure!
Dinner at Mare E Monte last night after having had lunch there about 10 days ago. The ambiance and service here is fantastic. The owner is very attentive and friendly as well. On first visit, I had lasagna, which was excellent. Last night, we started with their caprese salad, which was a different variation on caprese but absolutely amazing and probably the most tasty we have had. My entree was the Bronx Chicken Parm, which was excellently prepared but be aware it is spicy. My wife had the Sole Oreganato, which she thought was one of her favorite fish dishes ever, delicate but complex. We finished with a very good affogato for dessert. I highly recommend this new restaurant!
