Didn’t know what to expect when I got here but it totally exceeded my expectations! I do wish the place was bigger because our table was in a corner where we had little room to get in and out. But food was a 10 out of 10. My spicy rigatoni was the best I’ve tasted as was my husbands Parmigiana and please don’t get me started on that calamari. Super hot and fresh! The service was fantastic for it being so crowded. The owner Prince came to our table twice checking on us and making sure everything was good. Even saw him carrying wine samples to customers who were outside waiting. I will definitely be back

On a Sunday at 12:45 pm, there was no wait for a table of four, and the noise level was moderate, just bordering on loud. Service was excellent, and the owner came by a few times. Generous portions of food and hot fresh bread with a tasty oil accompaniment. I'm a bread gal, so that was my favorite--no apparent limit. 😀 We had the calamari with a slightly spicy marinara sauce and the house aioli for dipping. We shared two side salads. I added some of the ailoi to mine for a richer taste. We ordered the sole on risotto, orechiette with sausage and vegetables, chicken Parmigiano, and the pork chop. Everything was tasty. The chicken Parmigiano came with a thin sauce, but the server delivers it with a hot skillet of cheesy Alfredo sauce they pour on top until you say stop. Yummy. The pork chop came with zucchini and carrots cooked just right; the chop was breaded and topped with pecans and a fig jam--it was very tasty but the chop overdone and tough, so disappointing when everything else was so good. We had the cannoli, blueberry cheesecake, and biscotti cheesecakes. These were all enjoyable. My companions had Chianti and Moscato, which they liked. Despite the chops, we'll definitely return another day.

Excellent first visit. Felt extremely welcomed by the owner. The calamari and salmon and sole were delicious! The Italian wine was also tasty. Will be back.

The was our first time and we were blown away! We ordered the Caesar salad, calamari fritters and veal parmigiana. Everything was fantastic! Can't wait to come back with our kids. Oh, and Joe's PlayList was BOMB!

Everything was absolutely amazing! Every dish we ordered was full of flavor and beautifully prepared. The calamari arrabbiata was outstanding—perfectly cooked with just the right amount of spice, easily one of the best I’ve had. The entrées were just as impressive: fresh, tender, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. From the seafood to the meats and sides, everything tasted authentic and delicious. We also finished with dessert, and it was the perfect sweet ending to an incredible meal. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was attentive and friendly throughout the night. Ben was flawless in his approach- detail to table visits, menu suggestions, clearing, water refills, etc. Calamari breaded and fried to perfection with delicious sauces. Ideal restaurant noise level for table conversations. Will make this my go to lunch spot.

We heard about Mare e Monte on Tik-Tok and we were drawn in because the food looked so good. We were not disappointed! We ordered the Calamari Frittata, it was a large serving, the breading was on point, light and crispy. For our main dish, we ordered Pollo e Monte. The chicken breast was grilled and tender, it was also very juicy. The service was excellent! We will be back!

First time here. Everything from the calamari to lamb chops to cannoli and more was Excellent. Very warm and friendly atmosphere

They don't take reservations but they do have an online wait list. While waiting outside, the owner came out and spoke to each and every waiting customer, apologized for the wait and offered water. The most impressive part of all this is that he brought the water out himself. Once seated, our server came over almost immediately to take our orders. The complimentary bread was delicious! Hot and fresh. All the food orders came out in a timely manner and were absolutely delicious! The calamari was crisp and not chewy. Seasoned very well and the marinara was great. I had the gnocchi bolognese. The gnocchi was pillowy and cooked perfectly and the bolognese was so flavorful. It was definitely worth the wait to get in and I left fully understanding why so many people were there.

Had an amazing dinner with family after Christmas. The staff was friendly and very attentive l. The food was great, very flavorful, especially loved the calamari app and the pork chop. The restaurant was decorated very well. It was one of our better dinning experiences. Will definitely be back.

I shared a meal with a friend today at Mare E Monte at lunch and was blown away by the next-level food and gracious hospitality we were shown. The owner stopped by our table and answered questions that we had about some of the menu items and steered us towards some of his personal favorites. The calamari was a nice start, which was generously portioned and well seasoned. We ordered the lobster ravioli and the fettuccini (no one batted an eye when I asked for both shrimp and chicken on top), both dishes were prepared perfectly. We capped it off with lively conversation with the owner (who stopped in again to make sure we were enjoying ourselves). I had the Italian cream cake (which at that point i could not finish) and my lunch companion hit a home run with the affogato. I am only giving 5 stars on this review, because 6 stars was not an option. If you are looking for a new Italian restaurant with great food and loads of charm, stop in for lunch or dinner and find out for yourself. We will definitely be back! Cheers!

So the wife and I wanted a date night and was in the mood for Italian. This place came across through tiktok or Facebook. We decided to go when we got there it was a 45 minute wait. We decided to go across the street and have a drink while we wait. SO GLAD WE DID!! I am very hard to please and they checked all the boxes. Food was amazing.. calamari was a little thin for my liking but great flavor. Meatballs were tender and flavorful. The owner came by our table 3 different times to check on us which is always something restaurants miss!! Owner/manager should always walk the tables. The server checked on us constantly even while busy!! GREAT JOB GUYS!! I will be back again!!

The restaurant was full of life! My wife and I were seated quickly, and are orders were taken promptly. We ordered the calamari all arrabiata for our appetizer, and it was lightly breaded and fried to perfection, with a perfectly spicy sauce. I ordered the fettuccine di parma for my main dish. The presentation with the cheese pour over was a fun experience, and the chicken was juicy and tender! Overall, excellent food, the service was attentive, and the owner was so warm and welcoming! I would absolutely recommend Mare E Monte to anyone looking for an authentic Italian meal and experience!

The service was incredible right from the moment we walked through the door; we felt truly welcomed. We began our meal with the Calamari all’Arrabbiata and Adriatic Shrimp, both of which were fantastic. I couldn't resist asking for the Adriatic Shrimp served with pasta! Celebrating my 73rd birthday at this Italian restaurant was one of the best dining experiences I've had in quite a while. The hospitality was topnotch. I got there much earlier than the rest of my party so I offered to wait in my car to avoid tying up a table others could use. The hostesses, Selena & Brenna (sorry if I got her name wrong) graciously invited me to come inside, offered me a seat, a menu, and something to drink. It was late afternoon so the place wasn't full yet but that changed pretty quickly. When the rest of my party of five arrived, they were warmly welcomed like we had been there many times before (all of us were first-time guests). The owner, Prince, came by and welcomed us, assuring us that we are to be treated like family & if something we ordered didn't live up to our expectations, they will do their best to make it right. Another gentleman came by later during our meal to check on us. Now, let's talk about the food. For appetizers, we had the calamari, crabcakes, & insalata caprese. Those were gone in no time, a flavorful introduction to luscious meal. Each of us ordered something different so we could all have a taste of each other's dish. Between us, we had the lamb chops (tender & well-seasoned), the squid ink pasta (uncommon fare but very tasty), the Chicken Piccata, & the Fettucini di Parma (both delicious & quite filling, making our tummies gurgle with joy). I had the Sole Oregenata, a sweet, flaky fish served over asparagus risotto, with scallops added on the side). That was so perfectly done I would order it again next time. Of course, we had to make room for dessert. We shared cheesecake Biscoff, blueberry cheesecake, & cannolis. My tiramisu came with a candle and a Happy Birthday song sung in Italian. All were so rich & flavorful, a perfect ending to a perfect meal. Shout out to our server, who introduced herself as 'Melania as in lasagna". She checked on us frequently, refilled our water many times over, & took care of our every need. A wonderful time was had by all! Thank you!

This restaurant is great! We got calamari, veil parmesan and chicken parmesan. They poured the cheese on which was really cool. Within 5 minutes of ordering the appetizer it came out. When we were heading back outside to wait the owner stopped and apologized for the wait. He was so nice my husband thought he knew us at first. The food was delicious, service was great and I loved the vibe of the place. We came for our anniversary and we will definitely be returning. My husband said this is the best restaurant he's ever been to!

Cozy, classy, delicious! The owners and staff make you feel welcome, friendly and genuine in their thanks of you being there. The Calamari Fritti was a delicious start, followed by Pollo Fontina that I will be thinking about and attempting to recreate for a long time, topped off by a delicious tiramisu. The atmosphere is comfortable, chatter filled, and warm. It’s like being a friend’s home for dinner. Loved it, would recommend to anyone and everyone. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!

This was incredible. The service the food the restaurant! So glad we came this is our new go to Italian restaurant. Calamari was fresh , salads were cold and creamy, the entrees were tasty and delicious and tiramisu was terrific! Thank you for such a great experience all the way around!

We came here on a whim and were not disappointed. Ordered the spicy calamari, Caesar salad and the sole risotto. The sole really stood out, and I would highly recommend it. The bread served to the table was also very good. Their wine list is decent, but is aimed at bottle purchases (vs. buying a glass). The service was very good, best we’ve had in San Antonio.

First time walking into such a gem. We ordered the spicy calamari and it was to die for. Our entrees were so delectable. I ordered the lobster ravioli and added scallops to it. The sauce was so yummy and the raviolis were exquisite. My hubby ordered the Bronx pollo parmigiana which was beautiful with a light white spinach sauce. The chicken was very tasty. We are very happy to have found this lil piece of heaven. . We will be back because their service was impeccable. Salute!!!!

The staff were amazing and made sure that everything was good. However the chicken piccata was a bit disappointing. The chicken did not have much flavors and was overfried; the pasta was way too oily, and the capers were toasty fried. I also did not taste much of the tangy lemon butter sauce, which could’ve cut down the oily taste from the dish. Otherwise the tiramisu was delicious, and the calamari was good.

Great food. Calamari was good. My wife’s chicken Entree and my Veal were great. Even the carrots were very good. Our server Javier did great!

We really loved this place! Just a quick note Yelp won’t let you join the waitlist until you’re within 5 miles, so keep that in mind. Other than that, everything was excellent. The service, the ambience, and the food were all wonderful. Joe was our server, and he was fantastic we went with his recommendations and weren’t disappointed. The spicy rigatoni was a little on the mild side for our taste, but the ravioli and calamari were outstanding. And the aioli… absolutely to die for!

Came here for my birthday with my family. Holy cow, what an experience! The Calamari Arrabiata was insane! As were the crab cakes! The lobster ravioli was delicious. My family loved the pork chops, the lamb chops, and the pasta Nero. The staff was courteous, prompt, and even funny! The place is clean and the atmosphere is pleasant. They sang Happy Birthday to me and brought out THE most delicious Tiramisu and Blueberry Cheesecake. 10 out of 10! Highly recommend!!

I didn’t even get pics this time because we inhaled our food 😆 we again came today for my daughter’s birthday. Every time we go, the service and food are just exceptional! The pollo Bronx parmigiana is my go-to and is always super good. My daughter likes the fried calamari and appreciates that it’s not “99% tentacles” like a lot of other places. And the service, from the hosts to the waiters to the other staff just walking by, is amazing. Not to mention the pricing is on point. I don’t feel ripped off after coming here and always have to take a to-go box since the portions are so filling. Don’t skip this place!!

Delicious calamari and chicken piccata lunch for two today with great Caesar’s salad! Attentive staff welcome every visitor- clean, comfortable and a must return again !

None of us had been here before this evening, there were eight of us. We were all greeted with happiness and welcome, just phenomenal to be greeted so well. Staff are impeccable caring and attentive. Calamari all’Arrabbiata as our appetizer, which was recommended by our waiter Joe, an amazing mouthful of yumminess. I had the highly recommended Sole Oregenata, it was the best sole & risotto I have had away from the East Coast. This gem is added to the top of my favorite restaurants.

My girlfriend and I had an amazing dinner at Mare E Monte. We had the calamari fritti as an appetizer and the breading along with the aioli was absolute perfection. The owner and staff were also incredibly kind and attentive. They greeted us as if we were old friends. We had the Ravioli and Fettuccini dishes as our main and both were impressive. We finished our meal with the tiramisu and we're incredibly pleased.

We stopped in while on vacation from Oklahoma. Hands down the BEST food. Services was amazing as well. We had a party of 6 and didn’t have to wait at all for a table. We were met by the owner who treated us like we were family. We had the Ravioli Mare E Monte, Veal, Alfredo (one chicken and one shrimp), Gnocchi, and calamari (both options). The bread was fresh and so delicious. There was not one bit of food left on any of our plates. I wish they had a location in Oklahoma because I’d eat there all the time. This is a must for any future trips.

I love going to Mare e Monte. The atmosphere feels warm and inviting, and the staff are always friendly and attentive, which really adds to the experience. The food is consistently delicious. The Calamari all’Arrabbiata is one of my favorite things to order, crispy and flavorful without being greasy. The pasta dishes are also excellent. I recently had the fettuccine with chicken, peas, and mushrooms, and it was rich and tasty but not too heavy. I also have to mention the complimentary bread and olive oil. The bread comes out warm and fresh, and the olive oil is high quality with a nice flavor. It’s such a good start to the meal. Another thing I appreciate is the personal story behind the restaurant. The “1999” sign on the wall refers to the year the United States helped bring peace to the owner’s home country, Kosovo. He’s incredibly kind and grateful, and you can feel that warmth in how the restaurant is run. Overall, Mare e Monte is a wonderful spot for a meal with great food and genuinely good people running it.

A beautiful spot to eat lunch or dinner. The staff was very kind and the music very calming. New restaurants are always a gamble, but this one was splendid. I ordered a side dish and even that was wonderful. I recommend the lamb for a dish and shrimp as an appetizer. The calamari was also the best I've ever had at any restaurant. Overall an amazing restaurant I would choose to dine at again.

I honestly don’t know how this place has 4.9 stars. I got the Bronx pollo and I was served dry noodles with no sauce and it seemed like they use jalapeños were straight from the can with a slice of cheese on top. We also ordered calamari and the lasagna and it wasn’t flavorful, it was more cheese than anything.

This has to be the best Italian restaurant in San Antonio. I had their meatballs, calamari, their version of chicken parm with some of their rigatoni noodles, their ravioli and dessert was tiramisu. Everything tasted wonderful and will definitely be going back. Love this place!

It was ok. The rating and reviews may have given me unrealistic expectations, but I was underwhelmed by the food. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, but the lamb was underseasoned, the crab meat was definitely quality, and the calamari was standard. My other guests at dinner thought the same, but I will say the service was excellent and everyone was very nice and hospitable. I would try it again.

Had lunch at Mare e Monte today and it was an exceptional dining experience. First time there. We had the calamari, appetizer, with stuffed veal and lasagna with meatball for our entrees. All items were skillfully prepared and were excellent. Really enjoyed the taste, ambiance, and service of our lunch. Mira, our server, was knowledgeable, courteous, and a credit to her profession. We will definitely be returning there and I'd recommend Mare e Monte to anyone looking for great Italian food in a very welcoming environment.

Sebastian was amazing! The food and atmosphere was excellent and we really enjoyed the overall experience. I do recommend if ordering calamari, order sauce on the size. ☺️

This may be my new favorite restaurant in San Antonio! The atmosphere was amazing, even though it was packed, we were seated very efficiently. Everyone was so attentive and you can just feel the positive vibes here. Then the food! OMG, it was amazing and exceeded my expectations at every turn. The fried calamari with the creamy cheese tomato sauce was cooked PERFECT. Very few restaurants pull it off this well. Then I had one of their signature dishes grilled chicken with goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes in a garlic butter sauce. Amazing. Tiramisu for desert was no let down from the other dishes. You have to try this place. It's a gem and I can't wait to go back.

Went here for the very first time for Mother’s Day and let me just say this is by far the BEST experience I’ve ever had. Owner greeted us and welcomed us, everyone was kind. Joe was our server and he was amazing as well. They really do go above and beyond to take care of you. Food was so delicious and fresh, full of flavor!!! We will most definitely be coming back to try more of their menu. Calamari is as exceptional and so was everything else. You will not be disappointed!!!

We spent my husband's 58th birthday here last night and the food and service was impeccable! The owner, Prince, is a whole vibe! He makes you feel like family and shows so much gratitude for your visit. The food is next level, I mean everything my lips touched was amazing! My husband had the lamb chops, seasoned to perfection! My sister n law and myself ordered the Sole. The light & crispy seasoned fish is on a bed of the best creamiest risotto you will ever taste! My brother had the chicken or veal (forgot the name) with a huge meatball on top that was gone in a blink of an eye. We also had the Calamari all'Arrabbiata, I didn't get a pic but just order it and thank me later. You MUST try this restaurant, even if there is a wait, it is worth it! 10 out of 10, wonderful experience!

I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimp which was around $25.00. The food was presented very well but I felt it lacked the full flavor profile I was hoping for. The sauce tasted quite average and almost too bland. I did not taste the creamy Parmesan cheese flavor I was expecting and there was little to no seasoning, it tasted as if it was missing something. The 4 shrimp were delicious. But the atmosphere is visually stunning and you can tell the owners/chefs do try their best to make quality food and an enjoyable dining experience. I would like to go back and try another dish. Also, I ordered the fried calamari for $15.00 and it was one of the highlights, not overcooked and the tomato and creamy white lemony sauce served with it was the most delicious I’ve ever tasted.

Upon arrival we were seated right away. Our waiter was friendly and personable. The food from the Calamari, Chicken Parmigiana, Pollo Scarpariello, Duck fat potatoes, garlic mashed potatoes to Blueberry Cheese was delicious! The service and attentiveness of the staff on a late Saturday night was great! We will definitely be back. I’m sure whatever you choose will be great! Thank you for an awesome experience.

First time but not the last time! Went basic with the lasagna (which was fantastic) but there are so many other delicious options to try. The sole is apparently a house specialty. Spicy calamari also a hit!

Prince (the owner) is very passionate about providing a superior dining experience. It really shows. Perfectly prepared Calamari and Sole and the most attentive (without being annoying) service ive ever recieved.

Great food, from the appetizers all the way to the desserts. The calamari were the super tender and lightly breaded, perfect. The lobster ravioli savory and abundant, the sauce delicious. Very good service on top. If you don't want to wait, go at 9 pm or later.

This place is incredible. I am a 3rd generation Italian and I have had it all. Pulling up I was confused based on the reviews thinking there is no way this place is that good. We walk in, Subtle dining not over the top fancy and very minimalistic tables with white cloth. Typical Italian dining. Our server was excellent never asked the name but it was a gentleman in his 20s tan skin combed dark hair and he took great care of us throughout. The only “knock” I have is the bread served upon arrival is mediocre. Not bad by any means… we ate 3 baskets of it but not what you would think a place who’s food is this great would have. Calamari Arrabbiata was great. Crab cakes were excellent. Meatballs were light on sauce but made up for it in flavor of the meat. Only a few places I’ve had that had better meatballs. Tony’s Napoletana in San Francisco comes to mind. The Gnocchi is a MUST. Absolutely unreal. Melts in your mouth texture is great and the flavor is to die for. I can’t wait to go back. I am a stickler when it comes to Italian food and didn’t think I’d ever find anything in the San Antonio area that would be acceptable Italian food let alone one of the best Italian Restaurants I’ve ever eaten at in the states. I will try the rest of the menu within the next couple of weeks.

What a lovely find! From looking outside I wouldn’t expect much from the place, but when you get inside it’s like you are in a whole different realm. Try the seafood risotto and the calamari! Best I’ve come across!! 💗

Found this restaurant by accident, and we’re so glad we did. Our server Joshua was very helpful in explaining the menu and recommendations. We ordered calamari, Caesar salad, Bronx parmigiana, lasagna, and Sole w/risotto. All the food was delicious. I highly recommend this spot.

Owner was very nice and personable. Our server Lucky was very attentive. The food was incredible. My only suggestion is that the calamari needed one or two more minutes in the fryer. Other than that everything was excellent!

If you want highly quality and amazingly delicious food, excellent service, and nice atmosphere then this is your place! I can’t rave enough about how delicious the food was. The owner came to the table and spoke with us. The chef wanted to see how my husband liked “the special” he ordered. I can go on and on. Bread….fresh! Calamari and scallops…cooked perfectly! We came to Mare e Monte at 11:15 on the Saturday after Valentine's Day. Their dining area is split between more intimate 2 person tables and larger tables for bigger parties near the bar. We were seated immediately. They started us with some wood fired bread and oil that was perfectly cooked and warm. The owner came out to welcome us and let us know that we should treat it like we're family and ask for anything we want. We started with the Caesar salad and calamari which were both great. They were out of lasagna, but we ended up getting the lobster ravioli and pasta al nero with scallops. Both were outstanding. For dessert we tried the house made blueberry cheesecake and cannolis. Wow they were great. Service was extremely attentive. Food was perfect. Atmosphere was good. Highly recommend. More folks were arriving as we were leaving and parking was filling up. I think we picked a good time.

Hubby wanted a proper lunch this past Sunday instead of brunch food. He suggested we visit @ristorantemareemonte on Huebner. It was already busy but we were able to be seated quickly. If you don’t know, you can join the waitlist on Yelp. Prince welcomed us warmly, shared recommendations and ensured we had a great experience. Even gave us complimentary tiramisu and blueberry cheesecake to take home. The complimentary bread was warm and came with a dipping sauce. We tried the Calamari allArrabbiata with the sauce on the side. They were perfectly crunchy and also had the aioli to dip in. We shared the Insalata Primavera, which was perfect for the 3 of us. During our previous date night, Prince recommended the Sole Oregenata, their customers’ all-time favorite dish. Dad and I shared that generous portion. Love the sauce! Hubby had the recommended Pork Chop San Remo and added the Fettucine Alfredo. Love the fig jam on the crust! He shared a bite but I had to ask for a second bite! All the food were fantastic. Guillermo never missed a beat with his service. He kept our drinks filled and checked in on us frequently. If you haven’t been here yet, add it to your list to must try. Everything is wonderful from start to finish! The restaurant will introduce new dishes in April. In addition, they will be having wine dinners to test new dishes. February’s wine dinner will feature Georgian wines.

Had a great experience. Everyone couldn’t have been nicer. Zerina, our server was a great help and very attentive. The calamari was great. We loved the sole (melts in your mouth) and the veal. So many delicious things on the menu. We’ll be back soon. A new favorite.

A group of us went here for the first time for a post Christmas/New Year's get together. They don't take reservations but we were seated quickly which was great for a Friday night at 6pm. Service was very good but things were a little slow coming out of the kitchen. We ordered the calamari which was excellent, lightly breaded, crisp and tender. Also ordered the artichoke, also very good but that was the one that took quite a while to get to the table. However, the restaurant filled up quickly and was full, so sometimes you need to be patient. I had the seafood risotto, which was delicious, and others had chicken picatta, eggplant parmesan, chicken alfredo, and Caesar's Salad with Shrimp. Everyone enjoyed their selection. One of the highlights of the evening was the Owner. He circled the restaurant visiting with every table and ensuring that everything was okay and that no one needed anything. He was so very personable and upbeat. I'm Italian and very picky when it comes to Italian restaurants so it surprised me when I saw him because I could tell he was not Italian. We chatted with him outside when we were leaving and found that he is Albanian, as are the chefs. Well, close enough, I guess. I was duly impressed with the service, the ambiance, the food, and affordability. I look forward to returning.

Phenomenal food, service, and atmosphere. Cannot recommend this place enough, flavors are amazing and some of the most authentic in SA to true Italian / Roman flavors, also great wine selection. The appetizers we had were the carciofi al tartufo & calamari arrabbiata, entrees were pasta al nero & lamb chops. Everything is cooked to perfection, server is attentive, atmosphere of the restaurant is welcoming and cozy. Will definitely be back soon!!

New favorite restaurant! We lived in Naples, Italy, for 3 years so we're always looking for authentic Italian cuisine in San Antonio. Had dinner there tonight with my wife and daughter. Their wine selection by the glass was good, and we had the Chianti, which was excellent. The calamari appetizer is the best calamari I've had in years, and our salad with burrata cheese was excellent, too. We had the chicken parm and the sole; both were fantastic. Bourbon apple pecan pie for dessert, and it was outstanding. Our waiter, Kyron, was very attentive and knowledgeable, and the owner, Prince, is a great guy, and very pro-American. We will be back!!!

Fast service, albeit a little overly attentive. Food was delicious. The calamari was outstanding. Waitstaff informative, friendly and very accommodating. We will be back!!!

I had lasagna it was very good. Fried calamari was great! And the bread, so good. Great service. It feels like home !

Three of us went for lunch and everything was absolutely piping hot fresh and delicious. The spicy calamari was to die for. Definitely definitely will be back.

Such a nice neighborhood gem! Absolutely lovely service and staff. Calamari was very pillowy and piccatta was delish. Lasagna was a little salty but the meatballs were amazing. Also recommend the lemon blueberry tart for dessert.

Went to eat around 6pm food was delicious and came out quickly. Server was very attentive. The chocolate caramel cake is where it’s at. Meatballs and calamari are great appetizer choices.

This was our first time at Mare e Monte and it did not disappoint. The service was phenomenal. Jesse, our server went above and beyond to make sure that we were very well taken care of from offering to make every order to our liking. We started off with Calamari arriabiatta, then a ceasar salad and lasagna, which was my favorite. Prince, the owner, also greeted every guest with a warm welcome and was very friendly. In a time where good service is hard to find, this restaurant really knows how to make you feel special.

Not sure where to start, the amazing service or the food... Came here for a Sunday lunch. Upon walking in, about 5 staff were standing by the door welcoming every guest and seating them at the table of their choice. Owner immediately came over to greet us and insisted we let him know if anything was not perfect from the food, service, ambiance, lighting, etc... He also told us about the meaning and history of him opening the restaurant and how much it means to him for every guest to be 100% satisfied. Lastly, he told us about the menu concept and gave some recommendations. Wow, all this was before the service started. Zerina was our server and she immediately came over and was just as pleasant, friendly, and helpful. Ordered a few glasses of wine while looking over the menu. For appetizers, ordered the Calamari Fritti and Shrimp Oreganata. For the meal, ordered the Sole Oreganata, Pasta Al Nero, Bronx Pollo Parmigiana, and Eggplant Permesan as a shared side. For dessert, ordered Tiramisu and a Chocolate Caramel Cake. Every course was perfectly timed as had plenty of time to finish each dish without having to wait a long time for the next. Every dish was perfectly plated in every detail. Most importantly, every dish tasted amazing. Everyone tried each dish and was equally as impressed. I would've been happy with any dish as my main meal. I can't say which was better, the food or the service. Probably the most genuine, authentic, and personal service I've had in San Antonio. This has quickly become a go to and I'd highly recommend coming here.

Zerina is an excellent server and is very very kind. The atmosphere is so nice and we were constantly checked on to make sure everything is okay. No wonder this place has 5 stars. The Lobster Ravioli, lasagna, & calamari was amazzzingg!! Will definitely recommend & come back!

We ordered the meatballs, calamari, lobster ravioli, and Bronx pollo parmigiana. Everything was delicious! The bread was amazing! It had to be freshly baked. They also must make their pastas from scratch, so they are better than any pasta you’ll get anywhere else. Also, the owner was so kind. He stopped by every table to check in and make sure everyone was enjoying their food. He seemed genuinely interested in anything the guests had to say, so he could improve the restaurant. The restaurant is small, so I would definitely go early if you can. It seemed to fill up around dinner time. I’ll definitely be back!

Had been dying to try this place with all the hype and WOW. I’m hooked!!! My brother in law and I took parents from out of town and it was all exceptional. Service is a 10/10. The owner is so involved with his guests. Caprese Salad is a MUST have and calamari was incredible. House made desserts (Tiramisu) was to die for. Awesome place!

Love the ambience of this restaurant. Hidden in a little Business center, this will be your new favorite Italian stop. Reminds me of piccolos another little favorite Italian restaurant. The calamari sauce was so delicious and spicy, I could’ve eaten it on every dish!

Loved every moment I was in the restaurant with my family! From our appetizers all the way to our dessert! Prince and his staff took great care of us with their recommendations and attentiveness! Highly recommend the calamari as an appetizer. For dinner the lasagna was one of the best I’ve had. Lastly for dessert the chocolate cake was amazing! Definitely will return for more!

The Sole Oreganata & Lamb Chop plates were absolutely delicious 😋. Also tried the Calamari All Arrabbiatta…🤌. First time at this restaurant and very glad we decided to try it out. Service was great, atmosphere was awesome & the owner took the time to greet us at our table…the entire dining experience was superb!! Totally recommend!

The food is amazing, and the team is very welcoming (also on top of refills). Looking forward to when they get their liquor license to see what cocktails they’ll have to offer. Food: Calamari fritti is a must have, the breading, the seasoning, and the marinara are fantastic. The blueberry tart is perfectly balanced, though the chocolate sauce it’s plated with is aesthetically pleasing it takes away from the flavor. Had the Bronx veal parmigiano and lamb chops entrees - my companion and I loved the veal, and she was a big fan of the lamb chops. Service: we went during end peak dinner hours on a Thursday. Occupancy was around 75%, kitchen was backed up and we had to wait a while for our entrees but it was worth the wait. The host and server were very pleasant, and the team works together to ensure you have what you need throughout your meal. Atmosphere: the music choice was lovely, the menus introduction helps establish expectations in flavor, and the tables and floors were very neat and tidy. Why a 4 on atmosphere? The light curtain in the floor to ceiling windows of the front of the restaurant did not do justice for controlling the glare of the evening sun, and the banisters are in need of after hours dusting. Overall: would (and will) definitely return. There are many more items we’re looking forward to trying (like the strawberry tiramisu and the pasta dishes), and the owner or manager who’s checking on guests is very friendly.

The owner and the servers are welcoming but there were issues. My 6 year old had our drinks spilled on him and the glass cut him and my friend a little. Of course they were apologetic and it was no huge harm done, they gave him a shirt and a free dessert and gave me an extra meal but for me the food was OK. We had the calamari and shrimp appetizer which was good, his chicken strips were a little over cooked and my lobster ravioli was ok. I didn't really love the texture of the actual ravioli pasta. My friend had the shrimp penne which to me was spicy but she enjoyed it and my other friend had the fettuccine and mushrooms which were good. They got the chocolate cake which they enjoyed and I the affagoto but I just enjoyed the ice cream. The espresso was too strong for me. I wouldn't mind not going again.

The staff and owner, Prince, are all so welcoming and friendly. We shared Calamari and a salad, our main courses: the lasagna, the pollo dish, and the mushroom ravioli. Everything was cooked to perfection. We had the dessert of the day which was their version of a banana pudding, it was fantastic, not too sweet and full of flavor.

Had a wonderful lunch here after reading many rave reviews. The service is excellent and the owner is very friendly and extremely willing to please. I had the traditional calamari, the sole, and the strawberry tiramisu. All were excellent and very carefully prepared- tasty and beautiful!

Today, I dined with my elderly parents at Mare E Monte, based off of the great reviews. I was certainly not disappointed. The staff treats my parents with care and respect, just like they do with all of their guests, and their food. Today we had the Sole and the Shrimp Oreganatta, and the Calamari Fritte. All of it was so delicate, tender and fresh! Absolutely delicious!!! The servers and owner are so dedicated, professional and passionate about what they do, and speaking to them about their country, was so touching and so filled with heart, that their restaurant, will be a regular dining spot for us. The servers are not young kids who don't truly care and just needed a job. They are young, dedicated, very hard working, amazing and beautiful people. We have definitely made new friends there. Thank you for a really special experience Kemal, we will see you again soon!

Decided to eat here after looking at the great reviews. They did not do it justice! Met at the door by our waiter. The owner stopped by our table several times. Food was amazing! Had Calamari Arribiata as appetizer then ceasar salad and entrees of Lasagna and Pasta al Nero. Both were excellent! Will definitely be back. Love the atmosphere and decor especially the moon which the owner said they did all themselves. Have only been open less than 2 months but will do well!

Best dining experience in SA I’ve had in I don’t know how long. Sole with risotto was excellent, as was the calamari arrabiata! Very flavorful. Owner is sweet, has a beautiful story to tell and LOVES Military City, USA.

I took my husband to Mare E Monte for his birthday on Saturday. Our expectations were beyond exceeded! My husband had the Bronx Pollo Parmigiana, my son had Fettuccine di Parma with shrimp, and I had the Sole Oregenata. We also had calamari fritti and ravioli fritti as apps. The dishes were all so fresh, beautifully prepared, and melt in your mouth delicious! The Salted Caramel Chocolate cake was decadent! Our waitress was so friendly and attentive, as was the owner. We went in unsure of what to expect and left feeling like family! We will definitely be back!

From the fried Calamari with spicy aioli sauce to the meatball Lasagna. Everything was terrific! Even the Caesar Salad was rich and crisp! Highly recommend this place!

We went here after reading about it quite a bit on the SA restaurant page on F’book. We started with the Calamari Al’Arribbata. That was a nice way to start off a meal, but we also wanted to save room for the mains. I wish that they had a half order but still it was very good. The LOML (Love Of My Life) had the Sole Oreganata. She said it was one of the best meals she’s ever had in her life! What I tasted of it, I agree that it was excellent. Soft and buttery fish that just melted in the mouth. Meanwhile I had the Bronx Pollo Parmigiana. TWO chicken cutlets pounded thin, breaded, and covered with mozzarella and parmigiana cheese also the arrabbiata sauce with the cherry peppers (which had a flavor similar to little banana peppers) which worked well (imo) as the little bit of acid helped cut through the cheesiness. For dessert we shared a White Chocolate Strawberry Tiramisu and the LOML had a coffee. At first I was a little afraid that it would be too sweet but that wasn’t the case at all, just the right amount, to help cleanse the palate after a great meal. We will be back and, I at least, will be trying other things from the menu. On a side note as we were leaving, the manager or owner came up to us and thanked us for coming in and shook our hands. I thought that was a very thoughtful and kind gesture on his part.

Went for Mother’s Day 2024 and had great service. The lamb was delicious and cooked perfectly. The spinach and mashed potatoes were the perfect accompaniment. We also tried the calamari which has a great dipping sauce. Highly recommend!

Great food and service. Prince knows what he is doing here! Friendly work luncheon today. We started with calamari and meatballs. Both delicious. Two of us had lobster ravioli and it was wonderful. I cleaned the sauce up out of the dish with some bread! Chocolate caramel came with sea salt was a great dessert. Not cheap but not outrageous. Would definitely go again.

Absolutely phenomenal in every way! I had the Salmon and my husband had the Lamb Chops. Both wildly exceeded our expectations. The wine, calamari, and dessert only made the experience even better. And the service - we felt like royalty for the entire visit! You must try this place before it becomes impossible to get a table!

Okay... So we went here with our foodie friends. Which means we had high expectations. And it was "Italian." Which means other expectations. Not really Italian... That being said. This place is awesome. Just let Prince pick your food. That's what I did. Buttery shrimp for an appetizer, the calamari had a fun spice and delicious sauce. Wine was nice. Everyone loved their food and I, whilst thinking about meat and noodles all day, had the best piece of Sole I've ever had. That fish was perfect. It was so good I slowed down to eat it. It was ridiculous. Gonna go back for sure. If you're in the hood and looking for a knock you out dining experience, this is it. Service was fantastic. Place was clean, restrooms were clean. Felt like a VIP. And the prices, while not cheap, were pretty reasonable. Top to bottom excellent experience. Best part was going home and not feeling bloated or too full. Great desserts and espresso. Just go and eat and enjoy....

We came to celebrate Mother's Day, early. Ardit provided amazing and attentive service. We started of with the meatballs, calamari fritti, and the artichoke as appetizers. They were delicious. I had the Pollo e Monte, and my wife had the Bronx Pollo Parmigiana. I have to say this is the best Italian meal I've had. We topped the meal off with dessert of Caramel Chocolate Cake with Sea Salt, and a Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry Tiramisu. Also amazing. The whole atmosphere is very inviting and fun. The entire staff made sure we had everything we needed. This is going yo become our go to place for Italian.

This is my new favorite Italian Restaurant! First of all the calamari arrabbiata was the best calamari I’ve had in a long time with just the right amount of spice. I decided on the Pollo e Monte and was not disappointed. The portion sizes were more than enough and the staff was super friendly! You earned yourself a life long customer.

This place awesome. The service couldn’t have been better. The food was delicious too. You could tell everything was made from scratch. San Antonio was in need of a real deal Italian restaurant and this place delivered. We will definitely be going back. I highly recommend the Calamari all’arrabbita as a starter. The Bronx Pollo Parmigiana was also top notch. I felt the prices were also very reasonable given the quality of the food.

Me and my partner decided to have dinner last night and couldn’t figure out what spot was next on our list. We had a great craving for pasta and have before had success with finding good authentic Italian restaurants in San Antonio (surprisingly). We stumbled across Mare E Monte on Google and the reviews were exceptional and the pictures looked up to par to match. When we arrived the restaurant itself wasn’t what I was expecting, in all the good ways though! It was a newly opened brick and mortar style establishment and we were very impressed from the minute we walked in. Mind you I had called ahead to ask if service animals were allowed and without hesitation Prince, the owner said yes, my pup could come along. Once we sat down the whole staff was very attentive and asked plenty of questions. They made us feel right at home and asked for our honest feedback with everything being brought out. We ordered the Calamari all’Arrabbiata which was hot, fresh, held its crispiness when tossed in the marinara. They did give us complimentary wine (white or red) on them since they cannot sell any beer, wine or liquor for the time being. It was amazing and great touch to our date. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine, my partner ordered chicken penne Alfredo, Must we say both of those dishes did not disappoint whatsoever. the sauce was tasted homemade, light, buttery, the shrimp and chicken were cooked perfectly. They were hot, they were fresh, and we actually ate so fast that by the time we were full our plates were still hot! Not to mention the bread and oil duo hit the spot as well. Ardit, out waiter was checking on us consistently making sure everything was good, our cups were full, and our food was to our liking. *AND THEY GAVE US FREE DESSERT ON THEM!!* I hope this restaurant has a successful journey here in San Antonio. I can definitely see good things coming from such hard work. Check them out and show them some love. They are going to blow up. Shoutout Prince and his whole team.

We went for dinner and it was a great experience. The calamari was excellent as was our main meal. The service was more than we expected. The owner and wait staff were very attentive. We will definitely return.

Great location and beautiful inside. It is still early days but we are hopeful that this becomes a mainstay in the area. Calamari and fried ravioli were both yummy. Had the steak and fries and the chicken with goat cheese. Steak was good fries were perfect. Goat cheese and chicken are always delicious. Tiramisu is a bit different with strawberry instead of espresso and was light and delicious.

This place is amazing! The owner was is so kind and made sure that we loved everything that we ordered. The dessert is not your traditional tiramisu this is a strawberry tiramisu and it was delicious! For our appetizer we chose the calamari and the aioli and the marinara sauce that came with it were chef’s kiss. Our entrees were the vodka sauce penne and the pasta al Nero both were delicious! Can’t wait to come back and try everything else on their menu!
