Oh my god, if I could give a 100 star review, I would. This place knows how to make you feel SPECIAL. The restaurant was beautiful, cozy, and above all CLEAN. The wait staff were knowledgeable of the menu, patient with us as we stumbled through the items, and was there every second of the meal offering top tier service. The food was IMMACULATE. Delicious pasta, crispy chicken, very rich cheeses, and fresh seafood dishes. If I could only race about one thing, I’d be at a loss for words because everything was perfect. One thing that stood out was the OWNER! He personally shook my hand and thanked us for coming to his restaurant. He said “thank you for coming home.” My heart swelled. 10/10 business, lovely spot for a cute date, price was around $100 for two people so a little on the pricy side to be honest, but I gladly paid the price for such amazing service. Thank YOU Mar E Monte for such a spectacular experience. 10/10, will definitely be back.

Each dish was exceptional and reflected an impressive level of quality and care. The chicken Parmigiana was perfectly prepared, with a crisp golden crust, tender and juicy chicken, and a rich marinara topped with beautifully melted cheese that brought everything together flawlessly. The sole fish with scallops was elegant and expertly cooked—the sole was light, flaky, and fresh, while the scallops were perfectly seared, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The rigatoni pasta was hearty and comforting, cooked to a perfect al dente texture and coated in a flavorful sauce that stood beautifully on its own. What truly elevated the entire experience, though, was Allison. She was attentive, warm, and genuinely welcoming, making sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Her professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail made the meal feel special and well cared for, turning a great dinner into an outstanding dining experience.

Amazing atmosphere. The place was decked out for Christmas with garland everywhere and a large tree in the middle of the room. The organ decor is unique and comforting. And the food! This is one of few places we have found a thin Italian lasagna noodle like you would get in Italy. I didn’t check their website, but the most make their pasta in house. My wife had the lasagna and I had the Bronx chicken parm - this had table side mozzarella drizzled over the dish from a frying pan. Great presentation. The staff are congenial and you don’t wait long for anything. They all wear the US flag on their T-shirt. The manager came by and said hello to every table. My tiramisu was a delight. We will definitely be back.

I really don't get how this place has thousands of 5 star reviews. It's an average to below average italian restaurant. We ordered the chicken parm with the pour over cheese. Half of my cheese remained stuck to the pan and covered half my chicken parm. The portion was small. The chicken cutlet tasted industrial and super heavy deep fried. The sauce was not benefited by the added spicy element. The pasta was just ok. Not everything is bigger in texas as this is one of the smaller chicken parms ive had.

Staff was very nice, I called my order in and picked it up. However, the restaurant is very small and there was barely enough space for the waiters to walk around. Based on the food I received, I will never eat here again. Shortly after I finished my meal, my stomach was very upset, and I did not feel well for the rest of the night. I got the Bronx Chicken Parm and I only ate the pasta because the chicken was not good whatsoever. I understand it’s another take on Chicken Parm but it was disgusting to say the least. They basically cut up pickled jalapeños/peppers and added it to the mixture of whatever they breaded it with. I wanted to like this place and I thought it was going to be great based on the reviews, but it was a disappointment. I’m making this review so no one else goes through what I went through, food poisoning is real and this place will give it to you.

I went here with a friend for dinner and I was really blown away by the atmosphere and the service we received! The owner greeted you as you came in, along with the host. We were immediately seated and the decor was so beautiful! The atmosphere felt very intimate but still comfortable. All of the wait staff was very friendly and our waitress emphasized they could make anything we like as long as they had the ingredients. I ordered a dish maybe a bit too hastily and it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t what I expected and both the owner and the waitress insisted on making me something else. They were super gracious and the pasta they made me the second time came out very quickly and was delicious. I forgot to take a picture of it but I did take a picture of the dessert I had — blueberry cheesecake, yum! They pack up your leftovers for you and I actually accidentally left mine on the table, but one of the waiters ran after me to make sure I didn’t leave without it. I’m incredibly impressed with the atmosphere and service the owner has cultivated and the food was very good. Overall I had a wonderful experience here and will definitely come back!

The service was incredible right from the moment we walked through the door; we felt truly welcomed. We began our meal with the Calamari all’Arrabbiata and Adriatic Shrimp, both of which were fantastic. I couldn't resist asking for the Adriatic Shrimp served with pasta! Celebrating my 73rd birthday at this Italian restaurant was one of the best dining experiences I've had in quite a while. The hospitality was topnotch. I got there much earlier than the rest of my party so I offered to wait in my car to avoid tying up a table others could use. The hostesses, Selena & Brenna (sorry if I got her name wrong) graciously invited me to come inside, offered me a seat, a menu, and something to drink. It was late afternoon so the place wasn't full yet but that changed pretty quickly. When the rest of my party of five arrived, they were warmly welcomed like we had been there many times before (all of us were first-time guests). The owner, Prince, came by and welcomed us, assuring us that we are to be treated like family & if something we ordered didn't live up to our expectations, they will do their best to make it right. Another gentleman came by later during our meal to check on us. Now, let's talk about the food. For appetizers, we had the calamari, crabcakes, & insalata caprese. Those were gone in no time, a flavorful introduction to luscious meal. Each of us ordered something different so we could all have a taste of each other's dish. Between us, we had the lamb chops (tender & well-seasoned), the squid ink pasta (uncommon fare but very tasty), the Chicken Piccata, & the Fettucini di Parma (both delicious & quite filling, making our tummies gurgle with joy). I had the Sole Oregenata, a sweet, flaky fish served over asparagus risotto, with scallops added on the side). That was so perfectly done I would order it again next time. Of course, we had to make room for dessert. We shared cheesecake Biscoff, blueberry cheesecake, & cannolis. My tiramisu came with a candle and a Happy Birthday song sung in Italian. All were so rich & flavorful, a perfect ending to a perfect meal. Shout out to our server, who introduced herself as 'Melania as in lasagna". She checked on us frequently, refilled our water many times over, & took care of our every need. A wonderful time was had by all! Thank you!

We heard about this restaurant on TicToc so wanted to try it. They do not do reservations but you can get on a waitlist via their website or through the Yelp app. We got on the list upon arrival. The wait time was just over an hour on a Friday night but worth it! You must wait outside standing on the sidewalk or in your car. There are no seats for waiting inside nor is there room. I had the Crispy Chicken Picatta. I have never had it crispy but it had so much flavor. I would order this again. Like everytime I order chicken picatta someplace, I never get enough pasta😏 My tablemate ordered the Ravioli Mare e Monte. She seemed to like it as there were no leftovers. Next time she wants to order the dish she saw in the TicToc video. Sorry I don't know the name of it. We had a side caesar salad that was really fresh and tasty and enough for two people. We had wine with our meals. They bring fresh bread to the table with some olive oil mix for dipping. That bread was delicious! I ate too much of it. We skipped dessert. The atmosphere was nice and has a bar (about 6-7 seats). The one TV at the bar has a food/travel channel on that was nice. The owner greeted everyone waiting outside for a table and continued to greet all the tables inside as well. He could maybe use a bigger space but really it works well just like it is. The service is good and the price is not too much. The food is exceptional.

The staff were amazing and made sure that everything was good. However the chicken piccata was a bit disappointing. The chicken did not have much flavors and was overfried; the pasta was way too oily, and the capers were toasty fried. I also did not taste much of the tangy lemon butter sauce, which could’ve cut down the oily taste from the dish. Otherwise the tiramisu was delicious, and the calamari was good.

We stumbled upon this gem because they offer gluten-free bread and gluten-free pasta and they have several gluten sensitive items. The experience from start to finish was amazing and made us feel at home. Joe, our server, was the cherry on top. He walked us through the wine list and found my husband the perfect wine for before and during dinner. He even made sure I was well aware of my choices concerning the GF/GS options. I won’t even try to name the dishes we had because the names are in Italian. The lemonade was tasty and fresh. The entire staff was attentive and friendly. The owner definitely set the tone. This may become our regular spot. Oh also we we’re pleasantly surprised to see that they put acoustic paneling up. My only critique is the duck fat potatoes needed to have a crisp to them.

I honestly walked in here expecting it to be overhyped and served with mediocre food. HOWEVER it was definitely the opposite. We were greeted by the owner which was so cool and our server LASAGNA LADY really look care of us. They gave us bread, brought out water without asking and really made us feel comfortable... Food was absolutely delicious and every single staff member was seen smiling as long as with all the other customers there... SUSPICIOUSLY a good experience... Did I trip and hit my head and I'm in a fairytale right now? What are the odds you find a good restaurant that cares about an experience anymore with a customer connection. NONE. This place really blew my mind and my taste buds. God bless you Prince you are very charismatic and God bless you as well Pasta Lady. Unfortunately we aren't from here so the chances for coming back to San Antonio are low but if we do, this place is definitely a must stop for us as we enjoyed the whole experience and we love pasta. This is definitely up there for the best pasta I ever had. Thank you.

Absolutely amazing experience here in an unassuming strip mall. Service was attentive and welcoming. I had the chicken parm (5/5). Crispy, the vodka sauce was flavorful and the pasta on the side was so gooey! My boyfriend got the lobster ravioli that he absolutely loved. We shared the cannolis (amazing crunch) and French fries. Would definitely come back when we’re down south!

A very nice and well-kept restaurant. The first thing that catches your eye is the wall with the wine selection. The welcome is very friendly, and finally, the tables have tablecloths, just like in real Italian restaurants. Excellent wine selection, both by the glass and by the bottle. The menu offers a good selection of Italian dishes. The pasta is cooked al dente, with excellent ingredients. The Caprese, although a reinterpretation, is very tasty and delicious, prepared with top-quality ingredients. All the staff are truly friendly, they make you feel right at home. Thank you so much.

We chose this place because it had a 4.9 rating but didn't read the part that the wait is long on the weekends. We were initially told that the wait would be able 30-40 minutes. By the time we were seated, it was a little over an hour. The owner came outside while we were waiting and introduced himself. He handed one of the guest a can of bread for waiting, similar to what's on the picture. She then passed it around to us. The bread was delicious. We were seated. The place is small so it's very cozy. The table to the left and right were fairly close to us. It was still nicely presented though. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Provided good suggestions. I had the lamb chops, medium rare. The flavor was good but it was mostly fat on the bones though. It was good nonetheless. I had a side of pasta. Our waiter suggested on pairing it with the spicy marinara and I chose spaghetti noodles. It was delicious. I would definitely come back.

Came here for my birthday with my family. Holy cow, what an experience! The Calamari Arrabiata was insane! As were the crab cakes! The lobster ravioli was delicious. My family loved the pork chops, the lamb chops, and the pasta Nero. The staff was courteous, prompt, and even funny! The place is clean and the atmosphere is pleasant. They sang Happy Birthday to me and brought out THE most delicious Tiramisu and Blueberry Cheesecake. 10 out of 10! Highly recommend!!

Wonderful staff. Bad, over priced Italian food. Our best dish was the appetizer (Carciofi al Tartufo). The salad dressing on the insalata primavera is just oil. The lasagna is just cheese/sauce/pasta. The waiter encouraged my wife to add meat balls to it only to have the single meat ball to be raw in the middle. The chicken piccata tasted like store bought breaded chicken bathed in oil. No one was ecstatic about their meal. We won’t be coming back.

A Masterclass in Hospitality and Cuisine — San Antonio’s Italian Gem In the ever-expanding dining scene of San Antonio, few establishments manage to strike the perfect balance between exquisite cuisine and unforgettable service. Yet, this Italian restaurant helmed by the incomparable Prince has achieved precisely that, setting a new standard for what dining out should feel like. If there were a way to award six stars, this would be the only venue worthy of such a distinction. From the moment you cross the threshold, you are welcomed not as a patron, but as an old friend invited into a warm, personal space. Prince himself exudes a genuine charm and hospitality that permeates the entire staff. Every server radiates warmth and attentiveness, creating an atmosphere that feels at once refined and deeply personal. Speaking with Prince is a privilege in itself; his life story is as rich and moving as the dishes he serves. In an era when too many restaurants have reduced dining to mere transaction, this establishment reminds you that a meal is an experience. Prince’s philosophy is simple yet profound: “Anything you want, exactly as you want it no questions asked.” This ethos transforms a night out into an indulgent, almost regal experience, where guests are treated with the kind of care and attention that makes them feel like royalty. And then, there is the food a celebration of Italian culinary tradition executed with precision and passion. Every plate is not only a feast for the palate but a work of art for the eyes. From the warm, pillowy bread paired with olive oil so divine it could be mistaken for ambrosia, to the handmade pastas that melt effortlessly on the tongue, each bite reaffirms the kitchen’s dedication to craft. Even dessert a cheesecake so tempting that restraint proved impossible before the first photo is prepared and presented with impeccable attention to detail. It is the combination of culinary excellence and heartfelt hospitality that makes this restaurant exceptional. The final touch? As we departed, Prince himself emerged to bid farewell with an embrace more akin to family than formality. Sitting in the car afterward, my wife and I exchanged stunned glances, both silently thinking the same thing: This is how dining out should be. Prince, if you are reading this, consider writing the definitive book on hospitality you have mastered it in a way that is as rare as it is inspiring. Until next week, my friend, when we will once again return “home.”

Everything was simply delicious! The bread & EVOO dip was to die for, the herbs were beautifully dressed and seasoned, such velvety crab cakes and decadent sauces, scallops melting in my mouth. My partner loved his spicy rigatoni (+chicken). The sauce was great, not too spicy, but whoever grilled that chicken?! Most succulent piece of chicken we’ve had in a long while - my goodness. And the shrimp? So fresh! Hats off to the chef. The pasta was perfectly al dente (so a bit too much for me but - when in Italy!) Our server, Andres was a delight as well, helpful & attentive. We will certainly be back!

Hands down, Maré E Monté is one of the best Italian restaurants in San Antonio (and Texas, for that matter). From the moment you walk in, you're met with a warm “Welcome home” that sets the tone for the entire dining experience. The hospitality here is unmatched — you’re not just another customer; you’re treated like family. We came in for dinner on a Sunday night and were blown away. The ambience is cozy and elevated, with soft acoustic treatment on the walls that makes it perfect for conversation — no shouting over background noise, just great food and even better company. We started with crispy calamari and grilled artichokes (a must-try!). A buddy ordered the filet tartufo and the lamb chops — both cooked to absolute perfection. We also got the fettuccini with grilled chicken and scallops (I highly recommend). You can taste the pride and passion in every bite. Their rotating menu keeps things exciting, and you can tell they truly care about seasonal ingredients and flavor. But what really makes Maré E Monté stand out is the vibe. There was a large party near the front celebrating someone’s 50th anniversary (and it still felt like each table was able to hold down an intimate conversation). It’s the kind of place where couples celebrate anniversaries, families gather over shared plates of pasta, and strangers leave as regulars. It’s rare to find a place that hits service, food, and atmosphere so perfectly — but this restaurant does it all. If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine, impeccable service, and a genuinely heartfelt experience in San Antonio, look no further. Whether it's a special occasion or a casual dinner out, Maré E Monté delivers every single time. P.S. our experience specialist (server), Melanie “like lasagna,” as she stated- was absolutely phenomenal and an amazing add-on that fit the vibe. Princ, the owner, makes you truly feel like family.

Mare e Monte translates from Italian to English as The Sea and Mountains. They took a common phrase in Italian cuisine and adopted it as their restaurant moniker for us 'Mericans. The menu was sufficient. Our table of six selected Asparagus Fries, Insalata Caprese and Insalata Primavera as our antipasto. Each was uniquely prepared, fresh and delicious. We skipped the primo (pasta) and selected our secondo meal. Lasagne al Forno ("one of the best I've had," said this guest); the Vitello alla Picatta "melted in my mouth," said this guest; both the third guest and myself selected Gnocchi Bolognese. We'd both enjoyed a version of this delicious potato dumpling delicacy during our separate travels to Italy. This is one of my favorite all time favorite secondi. Mare e Monte seems to be the only Italian restaurant in the San Antonio, TX, area, who serves it as a main course that I have found so far. "Delicious," we both remarked. Now, my lovely Bride will typically select Salmon at any restaurant that includes it on their menu.  At the recommandation of our server, Fatima, she actually changed her selection to Sole Oregenata. She was very happy with this selection--"light, flaky, and no 'fishy' taste," were some of her comments. Half of us shared a delicious bottle of red wine from their lovely selection of wines and split a piece of delicious cheesecake. We all took our leftovers. Two of our party actually packaged their leftovers for home, something they never do at restaurants we accompany them to. All in All, Mare e Monte is a 5-star 🌟 times 2.

I had lunch with a friend for the first time. Definitely will return. Food and service were excellent. We loved the ambiance of the restaurant. We split the Adriatic shrimp, insalata caresses, Orecchiette pasta and cannoli: amazing! The accompanying bread was also superb. Though we didn’t have wine, the list was very interesting with bold choices and reasonable prices. I inspected the new wine for the upcoming wine list and it was also amazing. Best Italian food that I have had in San Antonio. Reservations are not accepted at this time. Parking in front and back is ample. The owner visited our table and it was obvious that he was interested in us having a great experience at his restaurant. Highly recommended.

I love going to Mare e Monte. The atmosphere feels warm and inviting, and the staff are always friendly and attentive, which really adds to the experience. The food is consistently delicious. The Calamari all’Arrabbiata is one of my favorite things to order, crispy and flavorful without being greasy. The pasta dishes are also excellent. I recently had the fettuccine with chicken, peas, and mushrooms, and it was rich and tasty but not too heavy. I also have to mention the complimentary bread and olive oil. The bread comes out warm and fresh, and the olive oil is high quality with a nice flavor. It’s such a good start to the meal. Another thing I appreciate is the personal story behind the restaurant. The “1999” sign on the wall refers to the year the United States helped bring peace to the owner’s home country, Kosovo. He’s incredibly kind and grateful, and you can feel that warmth in how the restaurant is run. Overall, Mare e Monte is a wonderful spot for a meal with great food and genuinely good people running it.

We went here for my birthday, I wanted some seafood and pasta!! After reviewing the menu online I was so excited to try this place. However when we got here the parking was, not ideal, to say the least. I really wish there were better signs for the parking but that's the only reason I'm not giving the 5 stars. We ordered Asparagus Fries for an appetizer they had a bit of spice but were so tender and flavorful and the yogurt dip was delicious! I ordered the Lobster Ravioli Mare e Monte with Shrimp, the shrimp was tender, soft and pink, the ravioli was filled with delicious savory lobster meat and the sauce was titch but not over. My husband ordered the Bronx Pollo Parmigiana (Chicken Parmesan) the chicken was tender, juicy and flavorful, had a nice bit of a mouth and just made you want to eat more. The spicy chicken paired perfectly with the creamy sauce. We also ordered the Tiramisu and cannolis to go. The tiramisu was rich and decadent , the cannolis shell was flaky yet held together, the cream inside was indulgent. Even though we had to take it home it was so wonderful. Another thing that made this place wonderful, is the owner came around to every table, shook our hand and made sure we knew it's like a family and whatever we needed he made sure to make it happen. You can definitely feel the family home cooked Italian vibes. Will definitely come back, and can't wait to try more.

Food is great , Service even better and atmosphere is warm inviting and relaxed… until you add my two crazy boys haha Joe made sure to recommend the most ordered and loved plates and was very attentive (although we didn’t listen to his recs) . We ordered chicken and shrimp Alfredo for the boys (missed the creamy/milky-ness of it) but over all tasty. Chicken piccata is a great portion and got a gluten free pasta option on the side (thankful for that) but also was missing something, not sure what exactly. Hubs got lasagna and a side of eggplant parm which were both sooooo delicious, I think the Homemade tomato sauce makes everything better. House wine paired great with our meals so over all will come back again. Maybe we just need to have a date night without our kids to enjoy it all much more.

Stumbled upon this spot on vacation in San Antonio. We were ready for something other than steak or Mexican and the reviews don't lie. This place is phenomenal from the owners greeting to every phenomenal dish. We had the Shrimp antipasta perfect amount of spice, ceasar salad and caprese both fresh and delicious. I had the pasta el Norte adding Shrimp, but honestly the portion is so generous the addition really wasn't necessary. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the stuffed peppers. The blueberry cheesecake was light and delicious. An amazing gem with wonderful food and a welcoming atmosphere.

We ate here to celebrate my cousin’s high school graduation. I’ve never been here before but I was pleasantly impressed with how well the quality of food was for being located in a strip mall. The dim lighting and modern design was perfect to set a relaxing mood. The staff was friendly and attentive as soon as we arrived. Especially, Joe our waiter a professional, attentive, and humorous throughout the experience. We all tried different pastas and other dishes which all were fabulous! If I had to pick our top favorites it would be the asparagus fries, the pork chop dish, and orecchiette pasta. I put a picture of the pasta to provide a reference for sizing! Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a great dining experience with food to match.

Absolutely incredible! Hands down the best pasta I’ve ever had. The food is out-of-this-world delicious, and the service? Top-notch. Everyone—from the servers to the staff walking by—checks in to make sure you’re taken care of. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. You will not be disappointed!

This place is a great find! They recently made adjustments to their menu and had run out of the very reason we went there, gluten free pasta! The owner felt so bad he sent someone to purchase some while we enjoyed our wine. I am so glad we waited because the chicken piccata was the best I have ever had! They even had some gluten free bread to dip which is a real treat. The food is very reasonably priced and the serving size is more than enough so we had leftovers. It was even better the next day!!

Everything was absolutely delicious. I personally ordered the lasagna, and my family tried different pasta dishes — all of them were exquisite. The desserts were phenomenal as well, the perfect way to end the meal. And the cherry on top was the outstanding service. Our waiter, Joe, was fantastic — a great guy who provided excellent service throughout. Highly recommended!

Everything is absolutely delicious. I recommend trying the asparagus fries and the shrimp appetizer. The lamb chops were perfectly seasoned and cooked. I had the lobster ravioli, and you can actually taste how fresh the pasta is. I'm addicted to the tiramisu. I'm a tiramisu addict and I can eat this every day. My husband had the cannoli and also loved them.

Stopped in at the restaurant in passing with a neighbour of mine since we were hungry and hadn't been able to find something to suit either of our tastes via online search. I am SO glad I spotted this place in passing. The parking was a bit confusing as I didn't notice that flow of traffic was counter clockwise only I think due to one of the restaurants in the building having a drive thru. We entered through the back door as we parked behind the building. The restaurant at the time wasn't full and we didn't need a reservation. Our waiter was Guillermo and he was exceptionally professional, if you eat here, I hope you get Guillermo, he was wonderful. Service is fast as is food to come out. I ordered the lobster ravioli and it is the best pasta dish I've ever had. The sauce was flavourful, pasta was perfectly cooked, and no need for more parmesan than what it was served with. My neighbour ordered the lamb chops with shrimp and both were perfectly seasoned, no need to add additional salt or pepper. The restaurant space is on the small side, but comfortable and didn't seem crowded even when the tables all filled up. I will absolutely return here.

The food was delicious and the service outstanding. The carciofi de tartfu was a great appetizer. The salmon AlForno was great, the sauce gave it a perfect taste. The chicken alfredo my son would not stop talking about it. My husband had the Pollo Bronx Parmigiana, for him not being a pasta fan he ate every bite. I definitely recommend this place.

I recently visited this restaurant with a group of friends and we were disappointed by the quality of the food. I ordered Lobster Ravioli and it was dry, too salty and not hot enough. The dish lacked flavor and the portion size was too small. Even the Garlic Mashed Potatoes I ordered lacked Garlic flavor and tasted chunky like it was made from boxed Mashed Potatoes. 2 of my friends ordered Spaghetti and Meatballs and the pan it came in was too small it looked like a dish from the Kid's Menu. The portions were too small considering the prices and it didn't have enough meatballs so, they both had to order extra meatballs to make the meal complete. The bread was too dry and hard to swallow. The menu is weird because, most of the dishes do not have pasta that comes with it although this is an Italian restaurant but, pasta can be ordered as a side dish. The waiter was attentive but was incorrectly reaching over us to refill our drinks and that was annoying. We came here to celebrate one of my friend's birthday and we brought our own cake. They charged us all extra for bringing our own cake (dessert) and serving the cake to us on small plates. I have never been to a restaurant that charges customers for bringing a birthday cake to celebrate someone's birthday. This restaurant needs to improve their food quality, portion sizes and menu. I will say I liked the cleanliness of the restaurant and restroom. All of my friends left disappointed by the food we had, it was not worth coming and we should have went somewhere else to enjoy some good Italian food.

All those 5 star reviews are correct! Delish, well crafted food. Excellent service. Elegant but casual atmosphere. We went for Linner (around 3:30) on a Saturday. There were more diners than expected at that time, but not too crowded. We love that the menu has creative twists to traditional italian dishes. You can also change out potato for pasta on dishes, etc. We were happy with the starter--fried asparagus--lightly crunchy, great flavor. The Bronx Pollo Parmigiana & Pork Chop Remo were outstanding. The Alfredo on pasta was perfect, pungent cheese & thick. Also, soft sour dough served with flavorful spiced olive oil. Fairly extensive wine list & we enjoyed a moderately priced Italian red. The owner came by to chat & and the waiter was attentive. We liked that the waiter paced the meal, so we enjoyed each course to the fullest. Leftovers were just as good next day!

My family visited Mare E Monte on our spring break trip to San Antonio and had a fantastic experience! A highlight meal from the salad to asparagus to pasta - my girls even rave about the lemonade. The staff and owner were incredibly friendly. My family wanted Italian and we are so happy we made the trip from downtown and didn't settle for the places near the riverwalk. If we didn't live across the country we would be regulars.

Shockingly good food. Shocking in that within an unassuming strip mall is easily the finest Italian food I have ever eaten, in a cozy setting with dynamite staff and an effusively pleasant owner. We came to Mare e Monte at 11:15 on the Saturday after Valentine's Day. Their dining area is split between more intimate 2 person tables and larger tables for bigger parties near the bar. We were seated immediately. They started us with some wood fired bread and oil that was perfectly cooked and warm. The owner came out to welcome us and let us know that we should treat it like we're family and ask for anything we want. We started with the Caesar salad and calamari which were both great. They were out of lasagna, but we ended up getting the lobster ravioli and pasta al nero with scallops. Both were outstanding. For dessert we tried the house made blueberry cheesecake and cannolis. Wow they were great. Service was extremely attentive. Food was perfect. Atmosphere was good. Highly recommend. More folks were arriving as we were leaving and parking was filling up. I think we picked a good time.

The food was delicious and different. We had the artichoke hearts for an appetizer and it was very unique and really yummy. The Pasta Nero was not typically what Americans think of Italian. It's had almost an Asian flare. A little spicy with bold flavors. Different, but very good. The lamb chops were a little overcooked (I ordered medium rare. They were more like medium well). I didn't send them back because the flavor and tenderness made up for it. They were delicious. We finished it off with tiramisu that was great. The service was awesome and Prince, the owner, made it a point to come to every table and introduce himself. He left a great impression that made us want to come back.

Came in for lunch, was immediately sat despite them being busy. The owner I presume came by to greet us and apologized for the wait when to be honest there wasn’t really much of a wait but it was very appreciated. He also stated to try anything and if I don’t love it he would get me anything else I want, which immediately made me feel comfortable in trying something new. I tried the parmigiana with rigatoni and it was fantastic. This restaurant has changed my POV of parmigiana, in a positive way. I have been to another pasta place that I will not name because of the relevancy of this review, but this restaurant blows it out of the water completely. I am surprised I have never heard of this place if it weren’t for me doom scrolling on maps one day reading food reviews lol. I think the only variable that may affect this place discoverability is that it is sanctioned in a strip mall. Personally, I don’t give many new places a try within strip malls, but this experience has also changed that perspective. If you are reading this, TRY THIS RESTAURANT. I’ll be back for sure.

The 5 star reviews are for real. Friendly and fast service, but did not feel rushed at all. The owner made us feel so welcome, and the food was excellent. In addition to the complimentary sourdough bread, we got the meatballs, asparagus, and bruschetta for appetizers, which were all delicious. I would only say meatballs could have been a little hotter, but still so tasty. Our waiter anticipated our every need, and waited until we were finished with our apps before serving our mains. My husband loved his spicy rigatoni, and my Pasta Al Nero was so flavorful, garlicky, and hot. Tiramisu was also one of the best we’ve had. We will definitely be coming back!

Visiting home from out of state and this place is amazing. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the servers were all super friendly and sweet, it was nice chatting with them and enjoying the nice atmosphere of the restaurant. Lamb chops were cooked exactly how I wanted, very juicy and the mashed potatoes were seasoned perfectly. The duck fat potatoes were good but slightly bland, maybe could be crispier and use more onions but they were still good. The shrimp appetizer was one of the best sauces I’ve ever had, I could eat that as my main course with a side of pasta and be satisfied. I look forward to coming back any time I visit, I need to try the rest of their amazing menu

This was an interesting yet very satisfying experience. We entered through the rear of the restaurant, a bit different but it allowed us to see more of the space. Very nice and cozy. Some holiday decor but not much. It wasn’t loud or library silent . We were immediately seated by the owner, who greeted us with welcome home. He sat us in the front. It was nice. Several tables around with other couples/groups engaged in conversation. The staff was dressed neatly and looked like they enjoyed their jobs. Our waiter was very nice and pretty quick. We enjoyed some complementary bread and butter. Bread was deliciously fresh and had good flavor. We were given just enough to hold us through ordering, which was great because we were totally looking forward to our entree. We split a César salad and it was good. It took us a while to decide what to order, the menu had many attractive options. I selected the Ravioli Mare e Monte, because I LOVE ravioli. The sauce was so creamy and tasty. I would definitely order this again. My hunny ordered the highly recommended Bronx Pollo Parmigiana. Wasn’t really his thing. He said the flavors were hit or miss and it just didn’t look appealing. He doesn’t typically have a fried meat with his pasta. The owner noticed almost immediately this was not the dish for my love. So he offered to prepare something else. He selected the Lasagne al Forno. BEST DECISION! So good. The tomatoes in the meat sauce were so flavorful. There was a sweetness that said IM FRESH and was chopped by hand. Lol. I will definitely order that the next time! We don’t usually take home leftovers but that came home. It was so filling. It was even good when we reheated it. Our food came out a little fast but management noticed and quickly took action. We were able to sit and enjoy our food and the environment, no need to rush. We left the establishment feeling like it was money well spent. We will absolutely return.

Not sure where to start, the amazing service or the food... Came here for a Sunday lunch. Upon walking in, about 5 staff were standing by the door welcoming every guest and seating them at the table of their choice. Owner immediately came over to greet us and insisted we let him know if anything was not perfect from the food, service, ambiance, lighting, etc... He also told us about the meaning and history of him opening the restaurant and how much it means to him for every guest to be 100% satisfied. Lastly, he told us about the menu concept and gave some recommendations. Wow, all this was before the service started. Zerina was our server and she immediately came over and was just as pleasant, friendly, and helpful. Ordered a few glasses of wine while looking over the menu. For appetizers, ordered the Calamari Fritti and Shrimp Oreganata. For the meal, ordered the Sole Oreganata, Pasta Al Nero, Bronx Pollo Parmigiana, and Eggplant Permesan as a shared side. For dessert, ordered Tiramisu and a Chocolate Caramel Cake. Every course was perfectly timed as had plenty of time to finish each dish without having to wait a long time for the next. Every dish was perfectly plated in every detail. Most importantly, every dish tasted amazing. Everyone tried each dish and was equally as impressed. I would've been happy with any dish as my main meal. I can't say which was better, the food or the service. Probably the most genuine, authentic, and personal service I've had in San Antonio. This has quickly become a go to and I'd highly recommend coming here.

From the moment we stepped into this charming Italian restaurant, we knew we were in for something special. Jesse, our server, was phenomenal. His warm demeanor and attentive service set the tone for a wonderful evening. The owner even took the time to introduce himself, making us feel genuinely welcome and adding a personal touch that is often missing in dining experiences. Now, let’s talk about the food—oh, the food! As an Italian family, we have high standards, and this restaurant exceeded every one of them. We started with the appetizers, each dish a delightful prelude to what was to come. The calamari was tender and perfectly seasoned, a true testament to the chef's skill. Moving on to the main courses, the pasta was nothing short of spectacular. The Bronx Apollo Parmagiana was AMAZING. You could taste the freshness in every bite, and the sauces were rich without being overwhelming. Each dish was crafted with care and attention to detail, making it hard to choose a favorite. And then came dessert—if you think you’ve had good rum cake, think again! It was the perfect balance of chocolate, cherry, and rum bliss, and we found ourselves savoring each bite. The bread served with our meal was light and airy, the ideal accompaniment to our feast. It’s clear that every element of the dining experience is carefully considered here. We left with full hearts and even fuller stomachs, already planning our next visit. This restaurant has earned a special place in our family’s dining rotation, and we can’t wait to bring our friends and family along to share in this incredible experience. If you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine that feels like home, look no further. You won’t be disappointed!

We ordered the meatballs, calamari, lobster ravioli, and Bronx pollo parmigiana. Everything was delicious! The bread was amazing! It had to be freshly baked. They also must make their pastas from scratch, so they are better than any pasta you’ll get anywhere else. Also, the owner was so kind. He stopped by every table to check in and make sure everyone was enjoying their food. He seemed genuinely interested in anything the guests had to say, so he could improve the restaurant. The restaurant is small, so I would definitely go early if you can. It seemed to fill up around dinner time. I’ll definitely be back!

I ordered the lunch chicken picatta and it was dry. It was 2 thick pieces of chicken with no seasoning or egg wash or anything over sautéed vegetables with very little sauce on the bottom of the plate. It was bland. The meal was $16 and I ordered a side of pasta which costs $12 so I was a little confused by the pricing. Also our server seemed annoyed by us and left us to fend for ourselves after serving us coffee. I had to go to the counter, where the other staff were just sitting there with their backs to the dining room, and ask for a refill on coffee. This was our first time and probably last ☹️

First off, I was really looking forward to coming to try this new restaurant based on the reviews. The service was impeccable and very attentive. The interior atmosphere was wonderful with the illuminated moon and styling set the mood. The complimentary wine was a great gesture and much appreciated. At the end of the meal they provide a QR code to leave a review… but I cannot justly give a 5 star review based on the quality of the meals we received. As we were disappointed to say the least. The chicken on the piccata was very over done with little to no sauce to accompany the swapped out pasta for vegetables. The lasagna had little to no meat or much of anything between the layers of pasta. It was very bland. I had to send meatballs back and chose not to eat the second one as both were undercooked in the middle.

I recently dined at Mare e Monte Italian Restaurant and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The squid ink pasta was perfectly cooked and bursting with rich, savory flavors. The chicken piccata was equally delightful, with tender chicken and a zesty, tangy sauce. The fresh salad complemented the meal beautifully, and the complimentary wine of our choice was a lovely touch that made our evening even more special. The bread was warm and delicious, perfect for sopping up every last bit of sauce. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, and the service was lovely—attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Mare e Monte has truly captured the essence of Italian cuisine, and I can't wait to return!

Had an incredible experience with the most hospitable staff. The owners are present and take much pride in their service and food. I started off with the Caesar salad, it was refreshingly crisp with a homemade dressing that was on the lighter side for a Caesar, which is my preference. My wife and I had the Pasta Nero (black pasta) and also the Fettuccini Alfredo with Shrimp. Both were incredibly well made, they pasta is made fresh in house and you can taste the difference. They also welcome children, our 3 children accompanied us and they were extremely friendly to them, ages 7, 10 and 12. They enjoyed a kids steak cooked medium with fries, and a kids spaghetti. Both my sons at their entire meals. My daughter ate a meatball appetizer as her meal, and it was phenomenal. Even the kids meals were cooked by the chef, no microwaved items. We ended with the Chocolate Caramel Cake with sea salt. It was light and fluffy, not overly rich, and well balanced. I would rate this a top 10 Italian dining experience based on food and service. We definitely will be back. I highly encourage you to try it out.

The food is amazing, and the team is very welcoming (also on top of refills). Looking forward to when they get their liquor license to see what cocktails they’ll have to offer. Food: Calamari fritti is a must have, the breading, the seasoning, and the marinara are fantastic. The blueberry tart is perfectly balanced, though the chocolate sauce it’s plated with is aesthetically pleasing it takes away from the flavor. Had the Bronx veal parmigiano and lamb chops entrees - my companion and I loved the veal, and she was a big fan of the lamb chops. Service: we went during end peak dinner hours on a Thursday. Occupancy was around 75%, kitchen was backed up and we had to wait a while for our entrees but it was worth the wait. The host and server were very pleasant, and the team works together to ensure you have what you need throughout your meal. Atmosphere: the music choice was lovely, the menus introduction helps establish expectations in flavor, and the tables and floors were very neat and tidy. Why a 4 on atmosphere? The light curtain in the floor to ceiling windows of the front of the restaurant did not do justice for controlling the glare of the evening sun, and the banisters are in need of after hours dusting. Overall: would (and will) definitely return. There are many more items we’re looking forward to trying (like the strawberry tiramisu and the pasta dishes), and the owner or manager who’s checking on guests is very friendly.

The owner and the servers are welcoming but there were issues. My 6 year old had our drinks spilled on him and the glass cut him and my friend a little. Of course they were apologetic and it was no huge harm done, they gave him a shirt and a free dessert and gave me an extra meal but for me the food was OK. We had the calamari and shrimp appetizer which was good, his chicken strips were a little over cooked and my lobster ravioli was ok. I didn't really love the texture of the actual ravioli pasta. My friend had the shrimp penne which to me was spicy but she enjoyed it and my other friend had the fettuccine and mushrooms which were good. They got the chocolate cake which they enjoyed and I the affagoto but I just enjoyed the ice cream. The espresso was too strong for me. I wouldn't mind not going again.

LOVED IT! My fiancee had traditional lasagna and he said he has never had anything like it except from his mom. The have an in house pastry chef so I tried the white chocolate strawberry tiramsui and it was out of this world. Will def be going back and recommend it over any other place here in san antonio saying their fresh Italian food.

Decided to eat here after looking at the great reviews. They did not do it justice! Met at the door by our waiter. The owner stopped by our table several times. Food was amazing! Had Calamari Arribiata as appetizer then ceasar salad and entrees of Lasagna and Pasta al Nero. Both were excellent! Will definitely be back. Love the atmosphere and decor especially the moon which the owner said they did all themselves. Have only been open less than 2 months but will do well!

Really enjoyed our dinner and will return. We wish the veal was scallopini style and not as thick. And the sole was quite greasy. The shrimp app was similar to Paesanos, although less buttery, which we liked as it was lighter. Artichoke app was very good, but could have benefited from a less fibrous sampling. And adding more salt to the pasta water wouldn’t hurt. Deserts were meh, lacking flavor and there was no cappuccino available.

The staff and waiters here were extremely attentive, with everyone helping each other out in this small and quaint spot. The owner personally came to each table to thank us and check on our meal, which made the experience even more special. Exceptional service and great food – highly recommend! 🍝 BONUS: they have gluten free pasta options! 😍 Pictured: Ravioli Fritti, Fettuccine Di Parma w/ chicken

Food is outstanding. Service was excellent. Penne and spaghetti pasta were slightly overcooked but ravioli were perfect. Will be returning frequently. Second best Italian I’ve had in San Antonio.

Me and my partner decided to have dinner last night and couldn’t figure out what spot was next on our list. We had a great craving for pasta and have before had success with finding good authentic Italian restaurants in San Antonio (surprisingly). We stumbled across Mare E Monte on Google and the reviews were exceptional and the pictures looked up to par to match. When we arrived the restaurant itself wasn’t what I was expecting, in all the good ways though! It was a newly opened brick and mortar style establishment and we were very impressed from the minute we walked in. Mind you I had called ahead to ask if service animals were allowed and without hesitation Prince, the owner said yes, my pup could come along. Once we sat down the whole staff was very attentive and asked plenty of questions. They made us feel right at home and asked for our honest feedback with everything being brought out. We ordered the Calamari all’Arrabbiata which was hot, fresh, held its crispiness when tossed in the marinara. They did give us complimentary wine (white or red) on them since they cannot sell any beer, wine or liquor for the time being. It was amazing and great touch to our date. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine, my partner ordered chicken penne Alfredo, Must we say both of those dishes did not disappoint whatsoever. the sauce was tasted homemade, light, buttery, the shrimp and chicken were cooked perfectly. They were hot, they were fresh, and we actually ate so fast that by the time we were full our plates were still hot! Not to mention the bread and oil duo hit the spot as well. Ardit, out waiter was checking on us consistently making sure everything was good, our cups were full, and our food was to our liking. *AND THEY GAVE US FREE DESSERT ON THEM!!* I hope this restaurant has a successful journey here in San Antonio. I can definitely see good things coming from such hard work. Check them out and show them some love. They are going to blow up. Shoutout Prince and his whole team.

We ordered penne alla vodka and pasta al nero, both super good, some of the best we’ve had in San Antonio. The truffle fries, some of the best we’ve had as well 🙏🏼 God bless the owner, team and this restaurant.

Mare E Monte Italian Restaurant is a culinary masterpiece, deserving of a Michelin star. I had the privilege of indulging in the Bronx Pollo Parmigiana, which exceeded my expectations. The lightly breaded chicken was pan-fried to perfection, topped with a rich vodka sauce, fresh mozzarella, and cherry peppers, served alongside Fettuccine Alfredo. The combination was divine. But the true showstopper was the Pasta Lasagne al Forno, a dish that redefined the classic lasagna. Homemade pasta sheets were layered with a rich Italian sausage Bolognese, mozzarella, ricotta, and béchamel, creating a harmonious balance of flavors and textures. Each bite was a testament to the chef's skill and dedication to traditional Italian cuisine, using only the freshest ingredients to create a truly authentic experience. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, making for a memorable dining experience. In short, Mare E Monte Italian Restaurant is a must-visit destination for any food enthusiast in San Antonio. With its commitment to traditional Italian cuisine and exceptional service, it's no wonder this restaurant deserves a Michelin star. I eagerly await my next visit to indulge in more of their culinary masterpieces! Recommended for: Special occasions, romantic evenings, and Italian food enthusiasts.

This place is amazing! The owner was is so kind and made sure that we loved everything that we ordered. The dessert is not your traditional tiramisu this is a strawberry tiramisu and it was delicious! For our appetizer we chose the calamari and the aioli and the marinara sauce that came with it were chef’s kiss. Our entrees were the vodka sauce penne and the pasta al Nero both were delicious! Can’t wait to come back and try everything else on their menu!

Mare e Monte? Absolutely amazing. It’s like stepping right into Italy without leaving town. Every bite feels like it's straight from an Italian grandma's kitchen—authentic, rich, and downright delicious. Their Pasta al Nero? Mind-blowing. Creamy, truffle-y goodness in every spoonful. Plus, the vibe is cozy, and the staff makes you feel like family. If you're craving some real-deal Italian food, this place nails it every time. Definitely a must-visit for anyone who loves good food. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.
