Fabulous! This restaurant continues to exceed expectations. Javier, our waiter was very friendly, attentive and engaging.
Our party of six had a variety of dishes and to include lamb chops, lobster ravioli and Bronx pollo parmigiana pollo. All the dishes were delicious.
The owner also passed by a few times to check on us and ensure we were having a good dining experience.
Give this restaurant a try and you wonβt be disappointed. Excellent customer service!
Food was great! Highly recommend the cannolis and the lamb chops! The service was awesome even though they were super packed. We did have to wait long but they told us it was an hour wait and it was exactly an hour which we appreciated.
Worth the wait great food great atmosphere staff was absolutely amazing and attentive i will be back again for those lamb chops and lobster ravioli....
This was our first time dining at this location and WoW what a Gem the service was excellent and the food tasted delicious, our server Briiiiiii took great care of us the food came out pretty fast the ambiance was very nice and I have to say the decorations for Valentine's day added a special feel to the experience. I got to meet Ben one of the managers and he was very warm and welcoming. We literally walked into this restaurant without ever knowing or hearing about it and we are so glad we found it, it's a hidden gem! The lamb chops where cooked to perfection and my wife had the chicken picatta and she loved it. All the staff here where very attentive they where literally standing by waiting to serve everyone but not in an intrusive manner. We definitely enjoyed our dining experience here we will be back again and we highly recommend them we will tell all our friends about them. On our next visit I will post more pictures of their delicious food.
We weren't even hungry and we had one of our best dining experiences of the past three years. It was our 3rd anniversary and we came here on the advice of a friend... and what good advice it was!
We started with stracciatella al fuoco, which was fantastic. My wife had the sole, I had lamb chops, and for both of us, the selections were the best we've had of these dishes (in her words, she didn't think fish could taste this good). We finished with tiramisu that was out of this world.
Truly one of the best, if not THE best, Italian restaurants available in San Antonio. The restaurant itself was cute, and our server (Fati) was extremely attentive, even to bringing my wife warm wine (she has a tooth sensitivity this weekend) which, to use her words, was excellent.
I absolutely loved this place and will be coming back to try their lamb chops.
We had an early dinner. The food was amazing. I absolutely recommend the lamb chops, very delicious. The drinks were being refilled constantly. Excellent service.
First time here. Everything from the calamari to lamb chops to cannoli and more was Excellent. Very warm and friendly atmosphere
Service was exceptional and the Lamb Chops were delicious!
We visited for the first time for lunch. What a hidden gem! Prince greeted us warmly with βWelcome home!β Our waitress Melania was courteous, quick, and provided great suggestions. The grilled artichoke appetizer was delicious. The stuffed veal and lamb chops were delicious and expertly prepared. The biscotti cheesecake and cannolis heavenly. We will definitely be back!!
Enjoyed a really fantastic Lamb Chop meal at the Mare E Monte Italian Restaurant today. Outstanding service. The interior was decorated very very nicely. The friend I was dining with enjoyed the Chicken Piccata. We both agreed that we will return time and time again. I do believe that the owner will need a larger place in the future!
Celebrating my 73rd birthday at this Italian restaurant was one of the best dining experiences I've had in quite a while.
The hospitality was topnotch. I got there much earlier than the rest of my party so I offered to wait in my car to avoid tying up a table others could use. The hostesses, Selena & Brenna (sorry if I got her name wrong) graciously invited me to come inside, offered me a seat, a menu, and something to drink. It was late afternoon so the place wasn't full yet but that changed pretty quickly.
When the rest of my party of five arrived, they were warmly welcomed like we had been there many times before (all of us were first-time guests). The owner, Prince, came by and welcomed us, assuring us that we are to be treated like family & if something we ordered didn't live up to our expectations, they will do their best to make it right. Another gentleman came by later during our meal to check on us.
Now, let's talk about the food. For appetizers, we had the calamari, crabcakes, & insalata caprese. Those were gone in no time, a flavorful introduction to luscious meal.
Each of us ordered something different so we could all have a taste of each other's dish. Between us, we had the lamb chops (tender & well-seasoned), the squid ink pasta (uncommon fare but very tasty), the Chicken Piccata, & the Fettucini di Parma (both delicious & quite filling, making our tummies gurgle with joy). I had the Sole Oregenata, a sweet, flaky fish served over asparagus risotto, with scallops added on the side). That was so perfectly done I would order it again next time.
Of course, we had to make room for dessert.
We shared cheesecake Biscoff, blueberry cheesecake, & cannolis. My tiramisu came with a candle and a Happy Birthday song sung in Italian. All were so rich & flavorful, a perfect ending to a perfect meal.
Shout out to our server, who introduced herself as 'Melania as in lasagna". She checked on us frequently, refilled our water many times over, & took care of our every need.
A wonderful time was had by all! Thank you!
My first time there and I truly enjoy everything about the restaurant. The service was excellent and the lamb was amazing! Highly recommend.
Amazing! My picky mother-in-law said it was the best lamb chop she's ever had in her entire life!
I have sent more people to this restaurant than probably any other restaurant over the last 40 years. Most recently, a complete stranger on my flight home asked me what the best restaurant in San Antonio would be. Without hesitation, I said "Mare e Monte." Then, just this week, a co-worker messaged me saying that his parents would be in San Antonio and could I give a recommendation for excellent restaurants. You guessed it--Mare e Monte was first on the list.
Please don't ever change!
Welcome home! If you're looking for an Italian restaurant that delivers bold flavors and impeccable service, this place is a must-visit. From the moment we sat down, everything was exceptional. We started with the Insalata Caprese, made with creamy Burrata that melted in our mouths, and the Carciofi al Tartufoβa brilliant twist on artichoke caprese that was both fresh and indulgent.
For mains, the Lamb Chops were perfectly seared and seasoned, the Lobster Ravioli with Shrimp was rich and luxurious, and the Sole over Asparagus Risotto topped with a butter lemon sauce was a standoutβdelicate, bright, and beautifully balanced.
Portions arenβt oversized, but the flavor more than makes up for it. Every bite felt intentional and crafted with care. Our server Joe was fantasticβhis wine pairing recommendation elevated the entire meal.
This restaurant doesnβt just serve foodβit serves an experience. Canβt wait to go back!
I had a very good experience dining here is hard to find and authentic and delicious Italian place. From the appetizer to the main course and the big selection of wines everything was perfect. Waiter was very helpful explaining the dishes and recommending wines to go with the main dish. We had the lamb chops best dish in my opinion with some red wine. The cheesecake Biscoff for dessert was just perfect to finish our night. I recommend this place for a nice romantic dinner or for the whole family. Parking lot is kinda small at the front but there's more space in the back. Reservation is not required but it will save you some time.
By far, the best customer service we've ever experienced. Prince was so welcoming, the staff was amazing.... and our server, Nadia, was AMAZING!
The chicken Parm w/vodka sauce was delicious! The star for me was the Herb Lamb chops!!! We highly recommend, and will definitely be back!

My husband and I have a weekly date night and because he works out of town M-F we try to make our date as special as possible. Tonight was my choice. I googled restaurants in our area and after scanning entirely too many restaurant menus I came across Mare E Monte Italian Restaurant. I immediately stopped my search. Every picture of their menu options looked absolutely delicious. I read the reviews and made my choice. We arrived shortly after 7pm and had a 12 - 15 minute waitβ¦not a big deal at all. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the hostesses and many of the waitstaff. Not in an irritating way, but a in a genuinely friendly and welcoming way. The Manager greeted us and said βwelcome home.β It was all so nice! We were waited on immediately. Our waitress was very knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We ordered the meatballs for an appetizer. It was delicious! The Mariana is incredible, meatballs were fresh, tender and so tasty. Served on a bed of sautΓ©ed onions and peppers and topped with goat cheese itβs pure perfection. My husband ordered the lamb chops which were served with mashed potatoes and spinach. They were seasoned to perfection and so, so juicy and tender. The portions are very generous. I ordered the sole topped with breadcrumbs on a bed of creamy asparagus risotto and spinach. The combination melted in my mouth. The subtle sweetness of the sole matched with the savory seasoning and the creaminess of the risotto and spinach was sheer perfection. This is the best seafood dish Iβve had in decades. Iβm a total fan and will definitely return often. I canβt wait to bring my daughters and schedule my next girls night with my friends. This is a family owned and operated business and it shows. They truly make you feel welcomed and provide service that is second to none.
Now I Understand Why They Have a 4.9 Rating!
The salad alone was so fresh and flavorful that I could have easily made it my main course. The fish and risotto were perfectly prepared, with rich flavors that simply melted in your mouth, and my husbandβs lamb chops were cooked to absolute perfection.
The service was exceptional β warm, attentive, and genuinely professional. Every staff member greeted us with kind smiles, checked in often, and even held the door as we left. It was an experience that made us feel truly valued.
We will 100% be returning β an outstanding dining experience from start to finish!
We chose this place because it had a 4.9 rating but didn't read the part that the wait is long on the weekends. We were initially told that the wait would be able 30-40 minutes. By the time we were seated, it was a little over an hour. The owner came outside while we were waiting and introduced himself. He handed one of the guest a can of bread for waiting, similar to what's on the picture. She then passed it around to us. The bread was delicious.
We were seated. The place is small so it's very cozy. The table to the left and right were fairly close to us. It was still nicely presented though.
Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Provided good suggestions. I had the lamb chops, medium rare. The flavor was good but it was mostly fat on the bones though. It was good nonetheless. I had a side of pasta. Our waiter suggested on pairing it with the spicy marinara and I chose spaghetti noodles. It was delicious.
I would definitely come back.
I had been wanting to come here for months and finally got the chance to with my beautiful girlfriend! As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the owner saying βwelcome home.β Food was A1, I got the lamb chops which the owner told me I did not need a fork or knife for. He was right! My other half got the chicken Parmesan and that was truly the best chicken parm Iβve ever had! Oliver was our server who was phenomenal! 10/10 experience overall would highly recommend!
Came here for my birthday with my family. Holy cow, what an experience! The Calamari Arrabiata was insane! As were the crab cakes! The lobster ravioli was delicious. My family loved the pork chops, the lamb chops, and the pasta Nero.
The staff was courteous, prompt, and even funny! The place is clean and the atmosphere is pleasant.
They sang Happy Birthday to me and brought out THE most delicious Tiramisu and Blueberry Cheesecake.
10 out of 10! Highly recommend!!
Went for my little anniversary dinner and left feeling so whole after eating here. The lamb chops were so soft and tasted like a dream π€€ shocked I didnβt discover this gem sooner. Our go to place from now on.
Stopped in for dinner tonight for my husbands birthday. We had lobster ravioli, lamb chops, caprese and tiramisu. Everything was amazing, food was top notch and came out so quickly, service was great. Everything was reasonably priced and the owner stopped by and had a lovely conversation with us after our meal. We will definitely be back!
A Night to Remember at Mare e Monte β 10 Stars for 10 Years!
We spent our tenth wedding anniversary at Mare e Monte in San Antonio, and it could not have been more perfect. From the first bite to the final toast, every moment felt special β a true celebration of love, flavor, and old-world hospitality.
The stuffed artichokes were a showstopper right out of the gate β rich, tender, and seasoned to perfection. Then came the chicken with goat cheese, which was nothing short of heavenly. Creamy, tangy, and balanced with the kind of finesse you donβt find just anywhere. And the lamb chops? Fall-off-the-bone tender with a deep, savory flavor that lingered long after the last bite.
The ambiance was warm and intimate β classic Italian charm without the pretense β and the service was attentive without being intrusive. You can tell this place is run with heart.
Whether you're celebrating a milestone or simply craving an unforgettable meal, Mare e Monte delivers. We left with full hearts, full bellies, and a new anniversary tradition.
Bravissimo! πππππ
Only giving five stars for each category because I can't give more. This place is wonderful. We started coming in January and stop by when we can. Food is always outstanding. Service is fantastic and the overall atmosphere is very warm and inviting. I always get the lamb chops which are so delicious and always cooked to perfection. I do recommend them but if you aren't a fan of lamb they have plenty of other wonderful dishes for every taste. I also recommend the cheesecake with blueberries if you have room for dessert.
I hope they have many more years of success because they have quickly become one of my favorite places.
Hands down, MarΓ© E MontΓ© is one of the best Italian restaurants in San Antonio (and Texas, for that matter). From the moment you walk in, you're met with a warm βWelcome homeβ that sets the tone for the entire dining experience. The hospitality here is unmatched β youβre not just another customer; youβre treated like family.
We came in for dinner on a Sunday night and were blown away. The ambience is cozy and elevated, with soft acoustic treatment on the walls that makes it perfect for conversation β no shouting over background noise, just great food and even better company.
We started with crispy calamari and grilled artichokes (a must-try!). A buddy ordered the filet tartufo and the lamb chops β both cooked to absolute perfection. We also got the fettuccini with grilled chicken and scallops (I highly recommend). You can taste the pride and passion in every bite. Their rotating menu keeps things exciting, and you can tell they truly care about seasonal ingredients and flavor.
But what really makes MarΓ© E MontΓ© stand out is the vibe. There was a large party near the front celebrating someoneβs 50th anniversary (and it still felt like each table was able to hold down an intimate conversation). Itβs the kind of place where couples celebrate anniversaries, families gather over shared plates of pasta, and strangers leave as regulars. Itβs rare to find a place that hits service, food, and atmosphere so perfectly β but this restaurant does it all.
If you're looking for authentic Italian cuisine, impeccable service, and a genuinely heartfelt experience in San Antonio, look no further. Whether it's a special occasion or a casual dinner out, MarΓ© E MontΓ© delivers every single time.
P.S. our experience specialist (server), Melanie βlike lasagna,β as she stated- was absolutely phenomenal and an amazing add-on that fit the vibe. Princ, the owner, makes you truly feel like family.
The food was absolutely delicious! The owner Prince was very welcoming and the service we received from our waitress was great. We ordered the lamb chops and lobster ravioli and will definitely be back!
Simply put, assolutamente delizioso! Menu offers a recherchΓ© selection of dining choices. and the food tastes phenomenal! Just so good! I was so impressed with the Pollo e Monte and duck-fat fried potatoes. I can hardly wait to try the lamb chops. I reside 3 hours away but I will happily drive back just to dine here again.
From the moment I entered the establishment I felt as if I had been teleported to a private destination resort. The level of staff professionalism combined with a seemingly genuine personal welcoming by the owner far surpassed any I have experienced in a long time.
I personally love that it's away from the touristy Riverwalk section of town which gives access to more local dining experience and much easier accessibility--but it is close enough for visitors wanting to tour just the same. The atmosphere is warm and inviting; extending comfort for solo dining, roomy for small groups, and cozy enough for date nights.
A beautiful spot to eat lunch or dinner. The staff was very kind and the music very calming. New restaurants are always a gamble, but this one was splendid. I ordered a side dish and even that was wonderful. I recommend the lamb for a dish and shrimp as an appetizer. The calamari was also the best I've ever had at any restaurant. Overall an amazing restaurant I would choose to dine at again.
It was ok. The rating and reviews may have given me unrealistic expectations, but I was underwhelmed by the food. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, but the lamb was underseasoned, the crab meat was definitely quality, and the calamari was standard.
My other guests at dinner thought the same, but I will say the service was excellent and everyone was very nice and hospitable. I would try it again.
Great food and service. Lamb chops were amazing!!! Top notch customer service.
We spent my husband's 58th birthday here last night and the food and service was impeccable! The owner, Prince, is a whole vibe! He makes you feel like family and shows so much gratitude for your visit. The food is next level, I mean everything my lips touched was amazing! My husband had the lamb chops, seasoned to perfection! My sister n law and myself ordered the Sole. The light & crispy seasoned fish is on a bed of the best creamiest risotto you will ever taste! My brother had the chicken or veal (forgot the name) with a huge meatball on top that was gone in a blink of an eye. We also had the Calamari all'Arrabbiata, I didn't get a pic but just order it and thank me later. You MUST try this restaurant, even if there is a wait, it is worth it! 10 out of 10, wonderful experience!
The owner is actively engaged in running his restaurant. He is friendly and really cares about delivering quality food, and service. The lamb chops are my favorite!
Everything is absolutely delicious. I recommend trying the asparagus fries and the shrimp appetizer. The lamb chops were perfectly seasoned and cooked. I had the lobster ravioli, and you can actually taste how fresh the pasta is. I'm addicted to the tiramisu. I'm a tiramisu addict and I can eat this every day. My husband had the cannoli and also loved them.
This is one of the best restaurants in San Antonio! It exceeded our expectations and the owner, Prince, takes time out of his busy schedule to greet you making you feel welcome. I recommend the lamb chops and lobster ravioli! π―
My husband and I had an amazing time at Mare e Monte! We were seated immediately upon our arrival. The hostess was very welcoming. Our server was Lucky and he was very hospitable and attentive. We had the meatballs as an appetizer and they were so delicious! They were fork-tender and were complemented well by the onions in the sauce. I was celebrating my birthday in San Antonio and wanted Italian cuisine. I ordered the Vitello Bronx Parmigiana and my husband had the lamb chops. Iβll start with his selection. The lamb was cooked as requested and seasoned to perfection. He wanted to eat the meat from the bone! LOL!! The veal reminded me of when my grandmother would cook paneed veal on Sundays. It was also seasoned well along with the creamy tomato sauce that topped it. I canβt say enough about how delicious and fresh everything was and Lucky made our visit all the more special by offering to take our picture. Thank you all for a great time. If youβre looking for good Italian fare, look no further!
Stopped in at the restaurant in passing with a neighbour of mine since we were hungry and hadn't been able to find something to suit either of our tastes via online search. I am SO glad I spotted this place in passing. The parking was a bit confusing as I didn't notice that flow of traffic was counter clockwise only I think due to one of the restaurants in the building having a drive thru. We entered through the back door as we parked behind the building. The restaurant at the time wasn't full and we didn't need a reservation. Our waiter was Guillermo and he was exceptionally professional, if you eat here, I hope you get Guillermo, he was wonderful. Service is fast as is food to come out. I ordered the lobster ravioli and it is the best pasta dish I've ever had. The sauce was flavourful, pasta was perfectly cooked, and no need for more parmesan than what it was served with. My neighbour ordered the lamb chops with shrimp and both were perfectly seasoned, no need to add additional salt or pepper. The restaurant space is on the small side, but comfortable and didn't seem crowded even when the tables all filled up. I will absolutely return here.
Everything about this restaurant is five star! Our waiter Adam's service is super, just the right amount of attention and very knowledgeable on the wine and food. All the food was super from the artichoke
appetizer, our entries lamb chops and the black noodle dish my husband orders, the wine and tiramisu are all great!
We are so happy to have discovered this restaurant. We will be coming back for sure!
Prince is fantastic, and his food is all delicious. The first time I went with a group and Prince and his staff were all amazing and very attentive to everyone. I tried the sole Oreganatta so far, my favorite. This time, it was our anniversary, and my hubby had the Lamb Chops . I tried the Pollo Mare, both were delicious and so tender you didn't need a knife.
I dined at Mare Monte March 20. It was the second time visiting this restaurant.
The food: a Caprese salad, big enough to share, was delightful. It comes with the freshest burrata cheese and a dollop of fig jam.
My daughter had the sole and I had the lamb chops. Both were heartily enjoyed.
Another aspect to consider when dining here is the service. I enjoyed speaking with the owner and appreciate how he makes it a point to greet and visit with everyone. He instantly makes you feel welcome. Our server, Joseph, was wonderful. My daughter preferred her food cooked a tad longer. Without hesitation, Joseph whisked the food away with a promise of a better cooked, fresh item. It did not disappoint.
Unfortunately, I didnβt leave room for dessert.
Canβt wait to come back!
Fall 2024
Visited Mare Monte for lunch with my daughter.
It was delicious.
She had the sole.
I had the salmon.
We shared a Caesar salad.
Unfortunately, I was too full to sample dessert.
Next timeβ¦.
The service was excellent.
The restaurant was intimate.
The menu had many enticing options and which means I will have to come back to check them out.
And major scoreβ¦it is a nice restaurant in close proximity to my neighborhood .
Will definitely be coming back!
We had the Pollo Monte & Lambchops. So much flavor! the meats were cooked and seasoned to perfection. We really didn't need the knives, the meat was so tender. We happened to meet Prince as we walked in, and he greeted us by saying "Welcome home." Our waiter, Lucky, was great as well ! Thank you for making our 11yr Anniversary Dinner a special one! We will DEFINITELY be back !
Amazing!!! Best meal I've had in san antonio in a long time. We all know how bad service and overall quality has gotten post covid, even at high end places, this place is an exception. We had the lamb chops- super tender and flavorful and the risotto- good portion great taste, we also had the tiramissu- amazing. Overall wonderful place. This was on a weekday late in the day and service was still top notch. With wine, appetizer, meal and dessert, plus a generous tip we spent $75 per person.
Went this past Saturday and it was soooooo good, not exaggerating at all!!! Itβs really hard to find an authentic Italian restaurant here in San Antonio but this place definitely is it! My boyfriend ordered the lobster ravioli and it was absolutely delicious. I ordered the lamb chops and it was so succulent. We had the crab cakes for appetizer and it was like the best crab cake Iβve had in a while. We had dessert and even the dessert was yummy, I have nothing bad to say whatsoever. Our waiter was amazing as well, he made sure or drinks were never empty and was very knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere is very cute and classy. I will definitely be back soon! π
The food was delicious and different. We had the artichoke hearts for an appetizer and it was very unique and really yummy. The Pasta Nero was not typically what Americans think of Italian. It's had almost an Asian flare. A little spicy with bold flavors. Different, but very good. The lamb chops were a little overcooked (I ordered medium rare. They were more like medium well). I didn't send them back because the flavor and tenderness made up for it. They were delicious. We finished it off with tiramisu that was great. The service was awesome and Prince, the owner, made it a point to come to every table and introduce himself. He left a great impression that made us want to come back.
A Perfect Italian Dining Experience
My husband and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mare e Monte, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy, inviting ambiance that set the perfect mood for Valentineβs Day β€οΈ
The menu offered a fantastic selection of authentic Italian dishes, each prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients. We started with the calamari fritti, which was bursting with flavor, followed by lamb chops, creamy mashed potatoes and sautΓ©ed spinach that was perfectly balanced. Paired with a glass of fine Portuguese wine to make it a truly special Valentineβs Dayβ€οΈ
To top it all off, the affogato was divine!
The service was outstanding. Our waiter, Zerina, was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made excellent recommendations. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience.
Whether youβre celebrating a special occasion or simply craving an authentic Italian meal, Mare e Monte is the place to go. I highly recommend it and canβt wait to return!
I went to this place yesterday for the first time because I have been searching for a nice authentic Italian restaurant and Iβve finally found one! I had to wait 45 minutes for a table due to the restaurant being busy however I didnβt mind. Once my table was ready the owner apologized for the wait which I thought was sweet. Once I was seated I received my drink, appetizer and food within 20 minutes. The service was super fast and throughout the dinner, my waiter and the owner came and checked on me. I had the lamb chops add Shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes and spinach. The food was cooked to perfection and I will definitely go back here again.
Date night at Mare e Monte was a delightful experience. The ambiance of the restaurant set a perfect mood for us. We enjoyed a lovely evening together, away from our usual routine.we started off with the bread and oil, it was yummy! The highlight of the meal was the salmon I ordered. It was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful. Each bite melted in my mouth, and the seasonings elevated the taste. My husband chose the lamb, and he was thrilled with his selection. The lamb was tender and rich, with a savory glaze that he couldn't stop raving about. We paired our meal with a side of fettuccine. It was fantastic. The service was attentive but not intrusive, allowing us to savor our food and conversation. We left feeling satisfied and looking forward to our next visit. Overall, it was a wonderful date night filled with good food and great company. Oh, and the wine! Canβt forget the wonderful selection of wine!
Just great everything was great. We were the lucky ones to have Lucky as our server! The Lamb chops wereβ¦the best Iβve had in Texas yum!
Phenomenal food, service, and atmosphere. Cannot recommend this place enough, flavors are amazing and some of the most authentic in SA to true Italian / Roman flavors, also great wine selection. The appetizers we had were the carciofi al tartufo & calamari arrabbiata, entrees were pasta al nero & lamb chops. Everything is cooked to perfection, server is attentive, atmosphere of the restaurant is welcoming and cozy. Will definitely be back soon!!
Visiting home from out of state and this place is amazing. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the servers were all super friendly and sweet, it was nice chatting with them and enjoying the nice atmosphere of the restaurant. Lamb chops were cooked exactly how I wanted, very juicy and the mashed potatoes were seasoned perfectly. The duck fat potatoes were good but slightly bland, maybe could be crispier and use more onions but they were still good. The shrimp appetizer was one of the best sauces Iβve ever had, I could eat that as my main course with a side of pasta and be satisfied. I look forward to coming back any time I visit, I need to try the rest of their amazing menu
Found this little gem as it was not far from our hotel. We started off with the Carciofi al Tartufo and it was absolutely delicious and I knew our meal was going to be great! My fiancee had the Pasta all Nero which was right up his alley as he loves spicy food and it was very spicy and flavorful. I had the lamb chops and they were cooked to perfection with a beautiful sear and juicy medium rare. Absolutely melt in your mouth tender. The server was extremely attentive and the atmosphere was very chic but relaxed. Definitely a place to try, you won't be disappointed!
Variety of food is outstanding. Service was top notch Staff is exceptional from the wait staff to the food prep. We had fish, lamb, and pork. All were excellently prepared and the presentation was great.! Highly recommend.
I'm not sure what to rave about first, the food, the service, or the charming ambiance. 100% recommended dining experience. The food is fresh and strays from traditional mom and pop italian with elevated flavor profiles. The bread and oil served complimentary is soft and warm, the sauces have subtle kick, lamb chops were well prepared. The service was 5 star stand out from all of the wait staff well trained and with attention to small details greatly impressed. While the lamb chops were perfectly cooked they could have used a bit more flavor for my taste and the tiramasu needed to be soaked in more coffee which is the only reason I've rated the food as 4 stars. The Bronx Veal dish . . . Delicious. The restaurant is decorated for Christmas and is just perfect. I'll be back and will tell my friends.
The dover sole is excellent. the lamb chops were a hit! It's a small restaurant, & tables are close together. If you have a large party for dinner, call ahead of time.
As someone with a beef allergy, I dont get good red meat very often, However the lamb was the best red meat I have ever eaten including before I developed my allergy. 10/10 recommend
Absolutely delicious!! Will definitely be returning. This is my new favorite Italian restaurant. Awesome service and atmospheres. The chef even came to the table, greeted us and was very kind. The lamb chops were out of this world and my husband chicken Marsala was juicy and seasoned perfectly. I definitely recommend trying them out.
Great service and free wine for a limited time?! Yes! What a great find! I recommend the lamb chops? The key lime pie is great too. They also really know how to make artichoke.
A hidden secret for sure. Exquisite food excellent service and right now you can bring your own wine as their TABC license is pending. Lamb chops as tender as butter; sole melts in your mouth, chicken marsala was perfect balance of savory and sweet served with garlic mashed potatoes.
The Sole Oreganata & Lamb Chop plates were absolutely delicious π. Also tried the Calamari All Arrabbiattaβ¦π€. First time at this restaurant and very glad we decided to try it out. Service was great, atmosphere was awesome & the owner took the time to greet us at our tableβ¦the entire dining experience was superb!! Totally recommend!
The food is amazing, and the team is very welcoming (also on top of refills). Looking forward to when they get their liquor license to see what cocktails theyβll have to offer.
Food:
Calamari fritti is a must have, the breading, the seasoning, and the marinara are fantastic.
The blueberry tart is perfectly balanced, though the chocolate sauce itβs plated with is aesthetically pleasing it takes away from the flavor.
Had the Bronx veal parmigiano and lamb chops entrees - my companion and I loved the veal, and she was a big fan of the lamb chops.
Service: we went during end peak dinner hours on a Thursday. Occupancy was around 75%, kitchen was backed up and we had to wait a while for our entrees but it was worth the wait. The host and server were very pleasant, and the team works together to ensure you have what you need throughout your meal.
Atmosphere: the music choice was lovely, the menus introduction helps establish expectations in flavor, and the tables and floors were very neat and tidy. Why a 4 on atmosphere?
The light curtain in the floor to ceiling windows of the front of the restaurant did not do justice for controlling the glare of the evening sun, and the banisters are in need of after hours dusting.
Overall: would (and will) definitely return. There are many more items weβre looking forward to trying (like the strawberry tiramisu and the pasta dishes), and the owner or manager whoβs checking on guests is very friendly.
I had the rack of lamb as the tiramisu. Both were perfect. The rack of lamb was seasoned well and perfectly cooked at medium with a slight crisp. The tiramisu was sweet and soft like a cloud. The service was top notch and friendly. Highly recommended!
Place is amazing!!! Prince the manager was very welcoming!! Even ask, if I didn't see something on the menu I liked, he would make an off menu of my choice. Now that's Customer service.. Risotto pack punch of flavor with truffle!! Delicious!! But the lamb chops, omg they were seared hard and cook to perfection.. well seasoned!!
My husband and I were looking for something different and stopped by for dinner. Itβs authentic Italian for sure.
The service was excellent! We were immediately greeted at the door and welcomed. It was very clean and the decor was nice.
The service and food were great. We were always checked on. I had the veal Parmesan, but will be trying the lamb chops next time. The prices were pretty comparable to other restaurants so we didnβt feel like it was overpriced.
We will definitely be going back.
Went for Motherβs Day 2024 and had great service. The lamb was delicious and cooked perfectly. The spinach and mashed potatoes were the perfect accompaniment. We also tried the calamari which has a great dipping sauce. Highly recommend!
The lamb chops were awesome NY strip cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The desserts made in house were extremely fulfilling. Kemal ensured our drinks were full and prompt service made our experience extraordinary!! We will definitely be back.
Absolutely phenomenal in every way! I had the Salmon and my husband had the Lamb Chops. Both wildly exceeded our expectations. The wine, calamari, and dessert only made the experience even better. And the service - we felt like royalty for the entire visit! You must try this place before it becomes impossible to get a table!
My recent visit to "Mare e Monte" was yet another fantastic dining experience, with Princ, the owner, proving once again why he is a standout in the service industry. His attentive and jovial nature made our evening exceptionally pleasant. This time, I chose the Pollo alla Piccata, which was cooked to perfection with a delightful balance of flavors. My friends savored their choices as well, including the tender lamb chops and Bronx Pollo Parmigiana. We topped off our meal with the decadent Caramel Chocolate Cake with sea salt, a sweet treat that was both moist and rich. Each visit confirms my decision to make "Mare e Monte" my favorite spot in San Antonio.
Visiting "Mare e Monte" last Friday was an exceptional experience, highlighted by the owner, Princ, whose kindness and attentiveness are unmatched. Princ is easily the most genuine and entertaining member of the service industry I've ever encountered. The lamb chops I ordered were supremely tender, melting in the mouth with every bite. My friends enjoyed the Pollo alla Piccata and Bronx Pollo Parmigiana, both of which were prepared to perfection and bursting with flavor. We ended our meal with the Caramel Chocolate Cake with sea salt on top, a delightfully moist and flavorful dessert that was the perfect finale to our dining experience. Princ's personal touch made the evening special, and I am eager to make "Mare e Monte" my go-to spot whenever I'm in San Antonio.
We went to Male E Monte last night for my wifeβs birthday. The owner made us feel so welcome, almost like family. Truly a kind person and the kind of restauranteur who deserves your hard earned money. The ambiance is lovely for being located in a newer strip mall. Felt classy and intimate with mood lighting on the table, and white table cloths. The food was excellent, and in my opinion priced too low for what it was. The complimentary bread was fresh and warm, and the herbed olive oil was alive with rosemary. The grilled artichoke appetizer was wonderful, with contrasting temperatures, flavors and textures. For our entree, my wife had the chicken parm which was amazing. It does have some heat to it, so if youβre sensitive to spice I would consider choosing a different menu item. We found it to be perfect and delicious. I had the lamb chops. The lamb was cooked to my preferred temperature, with a great sear and a nice clean flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes were an excellent pairing. We took a lasagna to go for my mother who couldnβt join us, and it was delicious as well. They included some bread which was a nice touch. Finally, a complimentary dessert to end the evening was beautiful.
If you love Italian food, PLEASE go experience Mare E Monte. They just opened 3 weeks ago and they deserve your patronage. We will absolutely be back!
We decided to try the lamb chop and veal parmigiano dishes. Both were great. The lamb we asked to be cooked medium and it was done to perfection. The dishes were balanced so that it wasnβt just a carb overload.
Service was excellent and we had an overall wonderful experience.
